Does your car start with this light on? Lock the drivers door and open it with the key (not the remote). That should take care of the problem.

does it still start? they can be a little tough to diagnose for a first timer. it should have a vats module and a chip in the key that the vats reads the key resistance when inserted. if it does not like what it sees it may not allow startup. check your key and reply

The car does start and runs great. have locked the doors and unlocked with the key and the light is still on.the remote will open the hatch however the doors will not unlock with the remote.

From my Tech Page about VATS (http://shbox.com/1/pass_key.html):

If the system detects a fault with the lock cylinder circuit after the engine is already running, the SECURITY lamp will light. The engine will be able to be restarted. This is called “fault enable mode”. (The system saw a good reading from the key at one point during a previous ignition cycle before the failure. So, it considers it a problem and not someone trying to steal the car.) When in fault enable mode, PASSKey protection is disable until the problem is repaired. Once repaired, the SECURITY lamp will go out about after about 1 minute after the key is turned on.

More info in the link posted above.
