one wicked element

 AAARUIUUUUGHH!!
Heres the thing:
I bought my '98 Z from a whole saler. I knew jack about the car when I got it. I should have never bought the car, as I am now going though and fixing someone elses problems.
Anyways, since day one (about a year ago) I have always had an SES (service engine soon light). I had it checked out and they told me it was because the car had no cats on it, and the O2 sensors weren't reading anything. So, it seemed like a set of O2 simms would fix it....I just never got around to buying them.
Well, this weekend I was installing a Drive Shaft Loop, and decided to take a look at the O2 sensor wires.....and what do we have here? O2 simms. Frickin' A! The guy who owned my car before half-assed everything.......but this was one thing he did right. I wasn't counting on that. So now my easy "SES" light fix doesn't seem so easy.
I would like to see if anyone has an AUTOTAP software to see what is causing the light. If i still reads that its the O2, I can get a new set of the simms.....or figure out what it is really doing. I used to have some GM dealer hook ups (ie free scanning) but since I've moved, I don't have those connections any more. I don't want to have to pay $50 bucks if some one can help me here for the cost of lunch.
So, if anyone has a spare day on the weekend and would like to help me see whats going on with my car...please, please, let me know. I'm so sick of this....
.....and in doing the Drive Shaft Loop, I found a STEEL drive shaft. How awesome is that?? My car is a '98 LS1. Only the LT1's had a steel one. <shakes head>
Again, please let me know.....and I'll cover lunch that day.
I'm in the north Grand Rapids/Comstock Park/Rockford area.

Thanks.
Milo.
