iron block 6.0 swap

How much of a bitch is it to swap in a 6.0 out of a truck into a 98 TA. I would like to do this and add ls6 intake, cam it, and ported ls6 heads. Any major problems or concerns here?

Those of you that have done a 6.0 block swap please chime in.

Thanks

The block is the same as far as bolts and dimensions. Everything from the ls1 will go onto the 6.0L.

you wouldn't really gain much over the LS1 block. a few more cubes is about it.

conversely you'll be adding 100lbs to the front of your car.

if you want more cubes you're better off going with a decent stroker short block. a nice aluminum block 382ci would work nicely with a fat 24x cam and ported heads

It'll work but the extra weight isn't worth it unless you plan on abusing it later on with a ton of spray of FI.

Like stated there isnt that much of a point, i did it in my 99 b/c the ls1 threw a rod and i got a good price on the 6.0, everything on your ls1 will swap over, you do need to drill one hole for an alternator bolt, i would recommend using higher compression heads on it, the stock lq4's were only 9.5:1 and the lq9 were 10:1.
Pm me if you need some answers to your questions.

Change the intake, oil pan, and drill the hole for the alternator. We have done many of these swaps at the shop.

Yeah, I agree.

You're going from 346 to 364 cubes. Not a huge leap, however, when (if) you do a stroker motor, that's when the fun will really begin ;)
