LS1 valve ajustment ???silver6speed 11-19-2006, 07:36 PM new to the ls1 motor ! need to know if i can adjust my stock valves ?? in my 98 z28 .. to me it sounds like they need adjusting . SSpdDmon 11-19-2006, 08:09 PM Valves can't be adjusted. The stock valvetrain is non-adjustable. The head holds the spring seat, the valve seal, the spring, the retainer and then the lock. Mount up the rockers with the pushrods in place, torque 'em down, and that's it. You can use shims and different length pushrods to make adjustments to valvetrain geometry or have a machine shop do some custom work on the heads. But for stock components, that shouldn't be necessary. Capn Pete 11-19-2006, 08:52 PM He's probably referring to adjusting the rockers to get rid of that clattery "loose/sloppy rocker" noise? ;) You know the one that every LS1 has ever since they're brand new??? :thumb: Welcome to the LS1!! :D Great motors ... just a little too noisy from more places than just the exhaust?!!? johnny6 11-19-2006, 08:55 PM He's probably referring to adjusting the rockers to get rid of that clattery "loose/sloppy rocker" noise? ;) You know the one that every LS1 has ever since they're brand new??? :thumb: Welcome to the LS1!! :D Great motors ... just a little too noisy from more places than just the exhaust?!!? Let me guess you still have the tap/knock? I gave up on mine, changed my pushrods, idler pulley, plugs, wires and i have no exhaust leaks i hope it blows up so i can get a new engine :D Capn Pete 11-19-2006, 09:09 PM I've had mine since BRAND NEW, and it's had those "tap/rattle/knock/clatter" noises since DAY ONE . Now with over 105,000 km (~65k miles) and it still runs like a champ, I'm not too concerned about them any more ;). 97z28/m6 11-19-2006, 09:13 PM I've had mine since BRAND NEW, and it's had those "tap/rattle/knock/clatter" noises since DAY ONE . SSpdDmon 11-20-2006, 09:23 PM Headers and catback are good for 30rwhp. ;) If you want to save a couple hundred, a cutout instead of a catback is an alternative option. Mike AL SS590 M6 11-21-2006, 10:10 AM . best et with drag radials 8.34 1/8 mile 97.4 mph , spining out the hole .;) This must be a typo because I run low 7s in the 1/8 @ 96 mph Capn Pete 11-21-2006, 01:24 PM Probably supposed to be 87.4?? ;) silver6speed 11-23-2006, 11:59 AM just looked at time sheets from 7-10 dragway here are some of my times , 8.615 @ 93.17mph 1/8 mile , 8.71 @92.78 mph,8.862@ 92.98mph . all runs on bf goodwrench drag radials no power adders !! normal run on street tires in the mid to high 9s. no bs !! my car is suppose to be stock , dont know if its had anything done to it before i bought it . Kraest 11-24-2006, 09:18 AM That doesn't make any sense. Your MPH is still too high for a stock car, although the ETs are about right. Maybe the mph at the end of the track was off that night?
