Ok, my first post. Hi all, awesome site, LOTS of great information. I've been coming here as a guest for a long time and gotten so many things answered and have used many many tips, (shoebox your wiring and how to site is the best one on the net) I know everybody says sell your v6 and get a v8, well I found my 6 an she was in pretty poor shape but am slowly fixing her back up and DO plan to swap in an 8. One of those, I want a 4th gen and I got a pretty good deal on her, $200/month payments, and she runs pretty well for a 6. Also needed a car at the time and didnt wanna just settle for what ever I could find. Just like alot of you guys, It's my baby and I'd rather fix it than sell it for somethin else to start over with, plus If you build it yourself, it means more to ya.... anywhos on to the question. When I got her she was wrecked but very driveable, apearently she was wrecked at least one time before and they swapped the passenger door for a manual door and cut the dam wires off at the body... no power lock, mirror nothin.... well ya I plan to put a power door back on it later, but I wanted my locks and mirror to at least be functional for the factory keyless entry blah blah... so i bought this door harness on ebay ($10) door to door. ALL plugs intact express down module etc... guy swore it was from a 95 Camaro... well after looking a little closer I realize its out of a 'Bird. Mirror switch plug is wrong, everything else seems to be right except there are two plugs going to the back of the doors, one I know is the lock actuator, whats the other one? (two black wires) I havnt noticed this plug on my driver door when i've been in there, did I just over look it? Are the rest of the plugs under the dash right? Can anyone identify these plugs and tell me what they are as far as the underdash? I know one is for the speakers and one plugs the window/lock power in, whats the other long lead that looks like the mirror plug right in the middle of the harness? I'd like to make an adapter for the mirror switch instead of cutting it off as I would like to add 'Bird door panels later and not have to cut and rewire again, Is that Possible to just make an adapter for the Maro switch from that plug? I plan to take pictures later today if that will help and if shoebox wants I'll send them to him for his site if he'd like. Thanks in advance, sorry so long.

OK finally got the pics up on photobucket. Dial up users beware, took for friggin ever to upload..... stupid dial up.... anyway the ones I cant figure out have the ???'s in the picture description. Hope someone can help as Id like to know what problems other than the mirror switch i'll run into before I go tearing the dash out and putting all this in... Tearing dash out to tighten everything up from air bags being blown before purchase.... so if it is not required to pull the dash for this harness thats why Im waiting anyway. Again thanks in advance hope these pics might help somebody else along the way here.

I've noticed on my 94 camaro there is an extra plug on the door lock actuator that is unused. I've always wondered what it was for and why there were no wires for it. Only one pair of wires go to the actuators on my car. Sorry I cant help more.

Can you look at the passenger side door on your car and use that as a template to patch up the drivers side door? You dont need to replace the door to get it power, just replace the latch assembly and the window regulator.

thanks traceZ. Does yours have factory keyless entry? Maybe thats what the extra set of wires is for??? or maybe a firebird option... i dunno, the chiltons doesnt provide the good of wiring diagram or if it shows it im missing it somewhere. Main thing tho, if your locks and everything work without that extra plug then that takes care of a big part of my question. Also am I correct in assuming you mean that I can take the manual regulator out of my passenger door and bolt in the power? Or do I have to drill new holes/mounts? Is the window same as far as where it bolts to the regulator? That would be a big plus being that the paint on that door matches pretty well and I dont really wanna repaint the entire car yet. One plus is that it has a power lock actuator in it but its cracked and hangs up the latch half the time an you have to flip it up before you shut the door.... Kinda embarrasing and tends to piss ya off. Does anybody know where you can get a plug that plugs into the factory speaker plugs so you dont have to cut them off for aftermarket speakers? I dont want to splice anything if I can keep from it since i have a complete harness. Also is that small plug in the center of the harness (kinda looks like the mirror plug) go to a security light on the top of the dash or what? The idiot that had this thing before me tore it up good like i said, hence the top of the dash gone.... anybody got an extra dash pad theyd sell somewhat cheap? cracked or not, theres a carpet cover over the bare top now. Id just like the right shape there at least and the vent, would also be nice to not be able to see bare metal where the carpet dont cover. Thanks again for the reply trace, and anybody else that joins the topic.

Yes, my car has keyless entry and it works perfectly.

Yes, the power regulator will fit into your current door using the same mounts. You can drill out the rivets and fasten in the new one with bolts and nylon-ringed lock nuts.

Here is a picture of a drivers side door with a power regulator. Note that the window motor has been removed, but I did mark the location it mounts to.. Shoebox has several pictures on his website as well.
