Looks like my 10 bolt is done for. I dont want this to happen again. My question about the 12 bolt is, would any gm 12 bolt fit in my 93 z28? And what would i need done to fit the 9 inch ford rear end? thanks for any help.

You have two choices:

1 - Buy a pre-built rear axle assembly that is specifically made for the 4th Gen torque arm suspension, complete with all matching mounts, attachments, torque arm mount, etc. or...

2- Take any old GM 12-bolt or Ford 9-inch, and start modifiying it to match your car... see if it has a posi, see if it has the gear ratio you want, check to see if the width is correct - narrow or widen as required, rebuild it, strip all the brackets, mounts and brake systems off your 10-bolt and transplant them to the new rear, and - hardest of all - build a torque arm mount. Been done.

If you opt for a pre-built 12-bolt, you can go to Strange or Moser. There are advantages and disadvantages for both these designs, which can be found with a "search". If you want a 9-inch, you can look at Moser or Currie.

The third alternative is a Strange/Dana 60. Again, a "search" for virtually any of the above, or for the advantages/disadvantages of the 12-bolt vs. the 9-inch vs. the S60 should show up a lot of relavent threads.

There are also conversions of the Ford 8.8-inch.
