The idea of putting a 3.6L is a nice idea, but calling it a sport model just shows that GM still doesn't quite understand what it takes to be competitive. The thing is, around 250hp and a DOHC is about the price of admission for cars and trucks in this price range. The fact that the sport model has this package just high lights how uncompetitive the base trims are. Also, as usual, I would appreciate the Pontiac getting 15 more hp, but I doubt GM would spend the money getting another certification.
I'm guessing ~$26k?

Is the prcie high? No
Are they faster then their normal counterparts? yes
I couldn't get the Torrent GT link to work for some reason.
I am looking forward to the Torrent GT, I test drove a '06 Torrent and was pleasnantly surprised at the way it drove and handled, the 3.4 though left a little more to be desired, but the 5 speed auto really helps mask its shortcomings.
My wife also really likes them, plus we just found out that she is pregnant so with a baby on the way the Torrent might make a good replacemet for the Intrigue, which by the way was rearended by a drunk driver last week.
I thought the Nox/Torrent were going to get a different base engine like the 211hp 3.5?

Will they get 6 speeds or 5 speeds? I've heard rumors of both. 6 speed would make more sense. The A6/3.6L combo is already in many other cars.
I hope they also get an improved base engine. 225HP 3.5L HV or 3.2L HF would be nice. I think a large I4 would be ok in the 'nox (but not torrent). Would GMs 2.9L Atlas I4 fit in a Theta? If not a DI 2.4L Ecotec would be awesome.

The 1960's Nova's with 6cyl's and SS badges were power monsters too don't forget! SS did not always mean the end all of performance vechicles. Sure.. it would be nice if they threw 300hp in these with summer only tires and dual exhaust but they probably wouldn't sell more than a few then. Making it a high quality package that can move nicely, have less body roll, have flashier styling thats what SS seems to mean today as it always has. The SS 4th Gen was just a Z/28... with flashier styling anyways.
