I'm planning on putting a motor in my camaro with about 500HP...would a M22 be able to handle this amount of power?

I would think so, buddy of mine has an M20 in his chevelle that is putting out 420HP problem free so far.

EDIT: Actually I just asked him what he thought, and he said that the M22 is essentially the same, just different gear angle, and 500hp would be pushing it. He says that 450 would be the point of looking towards an aftermarket such as the super t-10 or something along the lines of that.

The straight cut gears are what make them stronger. They could be had with L88s back in '69, which put out approximately 560hp.
