I want to get some long tube headers in the very near future, but i am not sure what brand i want to get. i have been set on hooker super comps for a while, but other companies like pacesetters use a thicker gauge steel tubing. anyone have either brand, and can you tell me what you think about the header???? also i know the whole concept of ceremic coated headers keeping the heat in the tubing which makes exhaust gases flow better. he is my last question, is it really worth getting headers coated????

"is it really worth getting headers coated????"

ABSOLUTELY

not only does it theoretically increase exhaust gas flow, but it also keeps engine bay temps donw, reducing chances of melted wires.

not to mention it looks sexier

My Kooks LT's are ceramic coated with a 2000º ceramic coating, my headers never get hotter than 145º. That really helps with the underhood temps.

If you do a lot of driving in all kinds of weather, get stainless headers. If it's a weekend-only, sunny-day driver...get coated Pacesetters.

Stear clear of SLP's. Not the best as far as power gain, the clearance is...... ok....... with stock rideheight, but once you lower the car, it REALLY gets bad.. The y-pipe is most of the problem. -I had to be the first one w/ first hand complaints...

Go with the thicker tubing, it'll help as far as noise. Teke has the flowtech's and they seem to tuck up there pretty good. I heard Pacesetters were pretty good. Price, finish and fittment...

Coating is a good idea. It protects the finish and the welds. -as far as rust.

Why hasn't anyone mentioned QTP? AWESOME design, stainless (put together VERY nicely), and a VERY easy install. I know the headers weren't the ONLY thing, but they are part of my combo that netted my 11.75 run with bolt-ons only. I noticed a HUGE difference after I installed then (and I'm still un-tuned) QTP's are teh win :p

Maybe because in the past you could buy a set of ported heads for what those headers cost? Now that they have them for $725 thats much better (almost half of the original cost) but you can still buy a set of headers and ORY for ~$500 and use the extra $200 on something else. If you're on a budget $200 can be a lot.

Its like dynatech, great header but $1500???

We install alot of pacesetter coated LT's and Jet-Hot LT's... What is your budget like? As said above QTP and Kooks are awesome headers but have a higher price tag. Where as Pacesetter and Jet-Hot are a couple hundred cheaper.. Check out our site at www.CustomSSI.com for prices and if you have any questions feel free to contact us..

IS IT better to get CERAMIC or STERLING???!!! I am confused by some of the online stores, and i plan on Pacesetters. What is the average HP gain just for headers?

I'm loving my pacesetter longtubes. Both went in from the top with minimal effort. Made the engine bay look good. Definately can tell they are there from the SOTP!

hehe, theres a local store that has a set in stock just for me, getting em for 380 after tax and everything :D
ceramic coated too, includes copper gaskets, and header bolts :)
nice to buy local because they tend to hook u up more

anyways, both my buddies run pacesetters, neither have any complaints
go with jet hot, pacesetters, or flowtech

Good luck getting those true duals under there with the pacesetters. They are awfully close to the bottom of the car. No real room under there.
