THEBEAST94TAGT 10-29-2006, 10:41 PM I currently am running NittoDR with my stock 10 bolt. I just installed a Moser 9". I will def keep my nittos for the street, but what tire should I run with this level of power at the track. I have BMR track pack with adj TA, LCA, Rear sway, sub frames, so I do have a few susp pieces. Should I run a full slick? I have some old 16 X 8 wheels that I'd use for now. So
1) what tire
2) what size (include any backspacing/spacing issues)
3) if i run skinny's up front what size, and what spacing issues will i have there?
seawolf06 10-29-2006, 11:24 PM I think you're really limiting yourself with those wheels. Check out MT or maybe even Hoosier to see what fits. You shouldn't have any problems with size until you run a wider tire. I don't know if a 28" (if they make them for you) would fit though, may need adjustable LCA.

Thats overkill, a m/t drag radial should hook fine for him.

LMAO. There's no such thing as overkill for a 9".
mattybz28 10-30-2006, 02:16 AM I don't know much about manuals but will that clutch be good for drops on any sticky tire?

McCloud has a few clutches, but I think the most popular one is good to either 500 or 700 HP.
2000GTP 10-30-2006, 10:18 AM I would just get a pair of Mickey Thompson drag radials for those old 16x8 rims you have lying around. You shouldn't have any problems hooking with those.
seawolf06 10-30-2006, 10:31 AM Man, you got a 9" for a reason. Sell those rims and get some draglites or some other 15" rim and some slicks. With the adjustable LCA you shouldn't have to cut your fender for some 28" tall tires and you'll be hauling.
Injuneer 10-30-2006, 11:29 AM Why would he want to handicap a [edit]heads/cam car with 28" slicks? Large diameter tires eat up HP and reduce the effective overall gear ratio. A 26" ET Street Radial or ET Street, on his 16x8 wheels seems more than adequate.
I ran 26x10.5-16 ET Streets at the 500HP level, Street Twin, 3.73 12-bolt and the car stuck like glue.
PS: Wrong forum.... I'll move it.

Listen to this guy, he knows what he's talking about. I just say go big or go home, and I love the way the 28" looks. Get a H/C on that thing!
Injuneer 10-30-2006, 03:54 PM Part of the problem is that he appears to have an "LE2", but its not in the signature, and its not clear whether its a complete heads and cam package. That said, a 26" tire should be more than adequate. It's obviously more than a "bolt-on" setup, so scratch that previous comment.
I like the 28" tire look too........ :) The guys in the shop that tune my car laugh at them and claim they are way more than I need, even if I'm hoping to launch on a full 300-shot off the line one of these days. THey claim I'm giving away 20-40HP with tires that are too large (28x10.5-15W ET Drags).

THEBEAST94TAGT 10-30-2006, 10:45 PM I haven't formally installed the H/C setup, that's why its not in my sig. I should be getting it back from Lloyd in a couple weeks now. I am just trying to prepare. The 9" is installed with the suspension components. I do not have adj LCA, but if I need them to run the best tire I will get them. I just want to run the best adequate combo (I hope to hit the 400rwhp mark). I have already robbed some power by switching to the 9", I'd hate to rob more by switching to a 28" tire, when a smaller will do. I just want to make sure that the smaller tire WILL do. Will the mickey thompson drag radials be OK?, I have some friends that are running these with similar power and they are doing OK. Realistically, if I can cut consistent 1.6s and the occational 1.5 60' I will be happy. What do you think will get me there?
