First trip to the strip

Well, TnT Friday at Montgomery Motorsports Park, so I had to see what it would do. Made three passes, the first and third had "issues" (backed off the throttle before the trap on the first and bogged off the line during the third), but the second was pretty solid. Here's the results:

60' - 2.09
1/8 - 8.573
1/4 - 13.234
MPH - 105.26

Based on the mods in the sig, I think I'm about where I should be (on bald F1's). BFG KDW's will be here Tuesday. Any chance I make 12's if I hook them right, or do I need to bolt on some more HP (anything but nitrous :think: I just like my HP the old fashioned way).

3.45 or 3.73 would probably do it. You have good MPH to be in the 12's. I'm guessing you're crossing line line while still climbing in third gear. If geared properly you should cross the line just as the tranny is about to go into fourth (if it even will at WOT).

Some sticky tires will help also.

I say if you can get the 60 ft times to the 1.8x range you will see some 12s. Get some practice on the launches and some drag radials look like your best bet.

You might hit 12's if the tires hook well. What I would be looking into is a tq.

I did it with mods in sig.

I think leave the gears (3.23's) alone! Just put a stall (3200) and you will drop 3-5 tenths:eek: (DR's a must) Also get the power programer to change shift points and have the torque management taken out. Trans go shift kit and might as well get the tranny cooler for insurance. You will see mid 12's and the car will be dead reliable.

My buddys 02 A4 has those mods and has run a best of 12.42@106.x

I know that is alot of dough, but it is something to work on to reach your goal.

Anytime you go with a torque converter with a higher than stock stall, a cooler needs to be installed. Higher stall converters build heat and heat is the number one killer of transmissions.

Thanks for the advice. I'll post times with the new KDWs. As far as the other mods go, Christmas + grandkids = keep the SS on a budget :D . So before I get into the tranny and gears ($$ and warranty concerns), I think I'll step up like this:
- SFC/STB
- TBB
- manual fan switch or HPP3
- MAF and ends

Then I can look at a Transgo or TC (not crazy about what I read about the B&M shift plus). There will be a cooler in either case (Thank you, Stephen!)

Off the topic, would someone decipher "NBM" and "FTRA" for me? :confused:

FTRA= Fast Toys Ram Air kit that scoops air infront of the radiator and "rams" it into the air box.

Your times look about right. I ran 13.3xx @ 104.7 MPH with a 2.0 60' time in my '01 WS6. Since I'm about 280 lbs (losing about 2 pounds a week right now) you can take off .1 and get a more realistic number of what my car should have run. (13.2)

We've got about the same mods. The WS6 has an upgraded exhaust, but the Flowmaster muffler is probably hurting me a little.

I'm hoping for 12.9 next spring with the addition of a cutout and a little practice. The 13.3 was only my 2nd trip to the track.

Yeah...I think you'll be able to hit real a high 12 just the way your car is now. With cold enough temps and a good enough launch, it'll happen. Your car is running very close to mine. The run I have in my sig. was my best run. It was about 45 degrees when I made that pass(5k miles odom.). I usually run anywhere from 13.0x - 13.3x with 60 foots in the 2.0x's. I say you'll have no problem now. Put some more mods on and you'll probably be consistant 13.0x - 12.8x.
