Gas Gauge in 96 Lt1Onebadlt1 10-17-2006, 10:53 PM Im sure everyone has the same problem, or atleast mostly everyone, the needle doesnt read correctly at all, 1/4 tank is almost nothing, 1/2 seems like a quarter. is their any fix for this problem? Craddock 10-17-2006, 11:27 PM Pretty much there's no fix. You can learn the miles to a tank if you want. I just try to keep it over half to keep the fuel pump cool. khojo16 10-18-2006, 12:01 AM yeah same problem...but not too long ago i completely ran outta gas...had to get a fuel container and fill it up at a gas station when a friend picked me up and put it in the car to get to the gas station...how bad is this for the fuel pump?? like what effects might it have?? Craddock 10-18-2006, 12:04 AM Do that too much and it will kill the pump. khojo16 10-18-2006, 12:06 AM well only done it once and it was not long after i got the car and had no idea about the terrible reading the fuel gauge gives...but do you think it could have crapped out on me after one time of being drained competely??? Dave '97 Z28 M6 10-18-2006, 02:03 AM I actually read somewhere on this board about a guy who had a fix for the inaccurate gas guage. I can't locate the thread, though (deleted due to non-supporting vendor, perhaps?). Craddock 10-18-2006, 02:59 AM well only done it once and it was not long after i got the car and had no idea about the terrible reading the fuel gauge gives...but do you think it could have crapped out on me after one time of being drained competely??? Well if you're still driving it the pump didn't crap out. khojo16 10-18-2006, 06:42 AM im not still driving it...got in an accident with it a few days later and havent driven it for a few months...actually pickin it up from the shop in about an hour from now...lol..so i guess we'll see once i start driving it again later today 2000GTP 10-18-2006, 02:38 PM It might just be the fuel level sensor in the tank is worn out giving inaccurate readings. Mine is nowhere near accurate either, I just try to keep it at a half tank at all times. | ||
