Would it be possible to get more lines, but limit the font size to the small size?
Maybe I'm in the minority, but I don't think my 7-line sig is that bad...

The rule has always been 5 lines or less, just not often mentioned. The reason you are now asking is because there are some new settings to the board that we are going through and have to tweak yet.
JakeRobb 10-16-2006, 01:19 PM I'm asking because I went to modify my sig and I can't even keep it the same length as it is now.
It appears, BTW, that it's limiting it to four lines, even though it says five.

Are you counting the blank line?
JakeRobb 10-16-2006, 03:11 PM Are you counting the blank line?
Yes. I want to change it to five lines, one of which is blank.
EDIT: Here is the sig I'm trying to use (not including lines w/ dashes):

JasonD 10-16-2006, 04:11 PM It was never enforced before...why change now?
It WAS enforced before when necessary/possible, but now it is a setting in the system so we don't have to deal with it.
JasonD 10-16-2006, 04:14 PM Yes. I want to change it to five lines, one of which is blank.
No clue at this point, like I sad there are new settings we have to tweak.
Injuneer 10-17-2006, 08:34 AM People with excessively long signatures were asked to cut them in length. The "5 line" got a little vague after the change to the character limit in the earlier software revision.
There's a lot of "fluff" in singatures.... quotes of stupid or offensive posts by other members, mod's lists that include details that no one really needs to know, and to make a suggestion of how to shorten the problem signature above.. do we really need to know about your "practical cars"?
The signature section should have enough info for people to know what F-Body brought you to the forum, and a level of details necessary to get most of your questions answered without people having to ask "what year?", "what tranny?" etc.
JMHO

No, but my practical cars are highlighting an issue with the forum setup, and I thought I would do my part to help. :)
PhantomTA 10-17-2006, 04:22 PM Im extremely happy about this new feature.
2000GTP 10-17-2006, 04:25 PM I trimmed some of the fat off of mine. Is it possible if premium members get an extra line or two?:)
Zepher 10-17-2006, 04:45 PM I fixed mine the other day.
EDIT: nope, it's not fixed.
EDIT:EDIT: now it's fixed.
Threxx 10-17-2006, 07:45 PM It's probably difficult to implement with this software but IMO maybe 7 lines if you stick to the smallest sized font, 5 lines for normal sized font, and larger than normal fonts just flat out now allowed...:)

Agreed
JasonD 10-31-2006, 09:34 AM Agreed
Yeah, it would be nice.
The only real problem with sig options is that sometimes people go nuts with them and they get obnoxious, which makes people sick of them.
I have been messing around with some of the option limitations trying to find the best balance so that people can make cool sigs, but can't go overboard with them.
Sweetred95ta 11-29-2006, 03:01 PM I'm replying in this thread because it kind of fits. I was actually going to make a new thread regarding making a change to my sig and then it had to be '5 lines' (which is no big deal, and I actually like). The thing I was wondering is, I've noticed that there is a space underneath the sigs of premium members that isn't there for regular members. I thought that I had some blanks under my sig, but I noticed it's that way with all of the pm's. It doesn't matter to me either way, but I was just curious and wondering if anyone else noticed. :)

It's because of your avatar. It stretches the height of the post as a whole, and ends up creating whitespace beneath your sig. You'll note that the extra space only appears when your post is relatively short.
JasonD 11-29-2006, 03:05 PM JakeRobb Beat me to it. If that isn't it, send me a screen shot of what you are talking about.

That makes sense. :o After I typed my post (which was more than a sentence or two), I was second guessing myself because it looked fine. Thanks for the help guys.
