car wants to die - help

sometimes when pulling off from a stop, the car acts funny. its not bogging out because im not giving it enough gas, but the rpms drop down to about 300-400 and stick there. giving it gas will not help, the rpms stay low. waiting it out, or turning the car off and then back on seem to help. the car is barely running when this happens, and i think it can be quite dangerous if pulling out onto a busy road, so i would like to have this fixed.

it happens maybe once every 20-30 starts, and only when pulling off from a stop. any ideas what this may be?

I don't have the answer, but here's some of the stuff I'd do if it were my car... I'd get the PCM scanned. Just because the SES light is off, doesn't mean there couldn't be a code in there. I'd check all the electrical grounds, especially the one on the passenger side wheel well. Take it apart and clean all the terminals on that particular ground. I'd probably have the fuel injectors flushed out and the ignition scoped. All to rule out things.

If that didn't solve it, I would probably keep a log book... any time the car has the problem, I would keep track of the weather conditions (especially humidity), how warmed up the engine was, etc, etc. Did you smell any gas, was there any smoke from the tailpipes, any unusual sounds, etc, all possible information... Hopefully, you'd find a pattern, or at least have more clues as to what the problem is. Solving intermittent problems is very difficult.

Also, post in the LS1 section, there's more traffic there (assuming you haven't already posted there, and that the mods don't mind if you cross-post???)
