GhostZ28 10-11-2006, 03:51 PM Would there be a market for a supercharged model of the V6 camaro? Call it a, RS. I'd think there would be a great market for a SC V6 model. Its just something I was thinking about so I figured this would be the place to discuss it. ;)
landstuhltaylor 10-11-2006, 03:53 PM i dont think so when you compare it to the 5.3l v8
ChrisFrez 10-11-2006, 03:57 PM Probably more suited for the aftermarket.
Bert02SS 10-11-2006, 04:07 PM If you do a cost/benefit analysis, you would slap yourself in the forehead and say, " I coulda had a V-8!"
GhostZ28 10-11-2006, 04:16 PM Well, its not for me. But I was thinking it could be a great way fro GM to grab a few more people, just having so many options on the table when you go to the dealership would be nice. Or a good idea would be to have GM ship a few off to SLP for upgrades on a possible "rs" model. The z28 has the SS package ofr speed and apearence, the base model should have the RS package just like back in the day.
Good Ph.D 10-11-2006, 06:08 PM SLP is essentially dead.
And an low level SC doesen't make much sense on any level.
stars1010 10-11-2006, 06:10 PM And ask your self really......who would buy it? I dont think there is a market to support the development cost.
toneloc12345 10-11-2006, 06:21 PM I'd rather have the S/C 3.8 than a HF V6..... The only thing bad about them is they don't sound cool. I bet it would be more fun to drive because of the down low torque and the s/c whine of course.
JasonD 10-11-2006, 07:33 PM SLP is essentially dead.
I wouldn't call them dead just yet, but I don't think they would be interested in putting out a supercharger package. Not typically based on their past products, anyway.
2000GTP 10-11-2006, 08:16 PM Well if they did decide to supercharge the v6, hopefully they would add an intercooler this time around as well.:)
HAZ-Matt 10-11-2006, 08:31 PM I think it would be better to develop a kit for the car that can be ordered and installed at the dealer.
GRNcamaro 10-11-2006, 09:22 PM i dont think there would be a market. but i think gm should make the new v6 camaro more modable than passed v6's
Chevamaro 10-11-2006, 10:31 PM Kind of like the turbo Trans Am, but with a supercharger? Sounds like a good idea to me... but it would probably have to be marketed as part of a specific performance package in order to sell.
Plague 10-12-2006, 10:22 AM The market would interfere with the base V8 and probably cost about the same. 2 camaros putting out 350hp, one is an SC V6 and the other a V8 and the difference in cost is negliglible. More people would rather have the V8. Possible an aftermarket SC, but not one from the dealer.
Mustang Killer57 10-14-2006, 04:30 PM I'de support a supercharged v6 for the GTO, or another pontiac or buick car. They've been tied into sc for a long time.
greg_nate 10-14-2006, 07:30 PM More people would rather have the V8.
At first I thought the same thing. But I think a turbocharged V6 might be more appealing to female buyers than a V8.
One of the things my wife liked about her new Saab was that it had a "turbo" in it. She has no idea what it actually does, but she likes the sound of it :)
toneloc12345 10-15-2006, 03:43 PM a turbo V6 would be even cooler than a s/c, it would also bring in a lot of the tuner market.
