I finally made it to the track last night. The weather was 7 degrees Celcius.

Well it was not what I expected I ran consistint 14.4 at 98 Mph. My 60 foot was crap at 2.4. I was on bald street tires so all I did was spin.

My car is a M6 with a B&M short throw shifter, CAI, and a Magnaflow catback. Has 3.42 posi rear.

My question is where should I launch the car. And what tires would you guys think would be a good choice.

What mods do you guys think I need to do to get a low to mid 13 pass.

PS: I really need to work on my 60 foots and also the car has stock suspension other then drop springs. Race weight is whatevera 95 z ways stock.

Thanks for any help.

Seems like tires would be #1 on your list. I like Nitto drag radials. Also, practice on launch technique. Each 0.1 reduction in 60-foot means about a 0.15 reduction in ET. So, if you can get your 60-foot to 2.0 sec, then your ET would be in the 13.8 range. Add some headers, and you'd be in the mid 13s, IMO.

BTW, I think 14.4 is pretty good for a first time at the track, with a close-to-stock car and shifting a manual transmission

So how do you recomend launching.

Should I slip the clutch a liitle to prevent huge wheel spin.

Would yuo recomend kooks headers with a y-pipe.
And would a tune help me out at all.

Thanks for the help

I wouldn't say a 14.4 is pretty good with his mods he should be high 13's low 14's would be pretty good but it does take a lot of time to learn to launch what I do is rev it to about 2400 rpm drop the clutch and hit the gas. Don't punch the gas right away or you'll start spinning especially on those bald tires you would probably wanna gradually increase to full throttle threw first. I always try and keep the throttle to wear my tires chirp hear and there through firs. I havent taken my car to the track yet so i cant say whether this is the best way to launch or not but through my experience it has seemed to be the best way

before looking into any other HP mods, u need to figure out to get the power to the ground.
easiest way would be to buy some drag radials. that will run u around 350 shipped.

Sorry, I can't help with launch technique since I have an A4 and I'm still playing around with the best way to launch it.

Kooks headers are very good and very expensive. But I think if you start with a good set of tires and practice launching, you'll be able to use the power you already have. Then, you can decide what mod(s) to do next.
