96ws6medina 10-07-2006, 12:57 AM OK so how fast have some of you gone in a bone stock lt1 f body?
my car has bfg drag radials, A4, 2.73 gears:rolleyes: k&n lol basically bone stock with a set of drag radials.
Its not the fastest thing in the world but im happy bout the times.
8.977@79.24 with a 2.035 60 ft.
can it do better like it sits?
gears would help this car out so much i know, but with that weak rearend its not even worth the money to buy and install them.:D
MTBeni 10-07-2006, 07:51 AM Your times are pretty decent. I ran 9.27s at 78 stock on street tires (2.2 60s). The cheapest way to swap gears is to find another rear from a junkyard with 3.23s or 3.42s.
2000GTP 10-07-2006, 11:00 AM Not bad times at all. If you want to get a little more out of it, you could always do some weight reduction before you go to the track ie: remove spare tire&jack, rear seats, 1/4 tank of gas, ect. Otherwise, it might be a good time to start modding. Those drag radials will really shine when backed up with a higher stall torque converter and some steeper gears.

still stock besides bfgs and k&n.

wat would ur 1/4 mile time be?
96ws6medina 10-14-2006, 05:02 PM wat would ur 1/4 mile time be?
high 13s -14 flat sorry i live in a redneck state where you have to drive an hour and a half to get to a 1/4 mile track.
CamaroRacing12 10-14-2006, 05:06 PM sweet those r good times.....
93turbo5oh 10-15-2006, 01:10 PM mine has a stock motor. my car ran a best of an 8.90@79.9 w/ a 2.0 60' when it was bone stock down to tires.

thats for sure a nice time on street tires, i have had this car a month and make an improvement in ET every week so maybe i can catch an 8.75 on the drag radials.....but im not sure the power is there.

i dont think its so much the power, but the lack of gear and torque multiplication. sometimes i wish mine was an A4, but the m6 sure is fun to drive. FWIW, a girdle will go a long way to keep the rearend alive. ive got 4.10s, i run et streets with a t56 and mine is fine. if you put a 3.73 and a girdle in your car with a good converter, it would probably run an 8.40 and the rearend would live forever if the person who did the gear setup knew what they were doing. my rearend setup is the exact same as a buddy of mine who had heads/cam lt1 with a t56 making 410rwhp and running 7.60s@94 on MT ET Drag slicks. i know people dont want to put money into the 10 bolts, but ive got about $800 into mine (and the only thing i reused was the housing and the axles) and its fine. i figure that anything i gain in ET from a 12 bolt by being able to launch it 'hard' i would just lose because of the rotational mass since mine doesnt make any power. IMO, the 10bolts are fine up to about 350rwhp.
RacingTiger04 10-15-2006, 05:28 PM i hate all of you.. im runnin 8.9 at 78-79mph with all of my mods!!!.. gratned its at a 2.3 60' but still the same mph as you bleh.. take those times and be happy lol
96ws6medina 10-15-2006, 05:33 PM i plan to spray a 75 shot on it this weekend ,that should take care of the 8.40 timeslip -but it would still be nice to do it without what feels like "cheating" :)
I think the next mods will be a converter problably the vigalante in a 3000 or so...(then again this is something i know little about because ive always owned standard tranny cars) anyway ive heard good things about it, and ill problably try the 3.73s and a girdle although im shaky about sticking with the 10 bolt its whining every time i leave the drag races as you turn a corner. It stops the whining as you drive it longer and then after another few trips down the track its back......has me stumped.

you need the driver mod!
:D just kidding, get some sticky tires and i foresee you getting a much better et....with that mph its hard to say though.

thats what always leaves me puzzled for my times my mph is low with thaqt kind of 60' i keep thinkin i should be runin at least 82-83 mph to dip into the high 8s with a 2.3 or worse 60' sad thing is since the trans and engine swap my 8th mile e/t is the same (even added headers) but my 550' has gone up by .5!!! use to hang around 5.5xx with the auto now its up to 6.xxx this car is startin to get on my last nerve but i think ive got it pinned down to plug wires lol.
96ws6medina 10-21-2006, 10:25 AM 10/21/06- 1.987 60 ft.....8.82 @80.19.....hell yeahs never going back to a mustang:bow:
RacingTiger04 10-25-2006, 01:26 AM see now those are the times that confuse the heck outta me.. ur runnin a .3 faster 60' and only .1-.2 faster 1/8th mile than i run but with a higher mph.. bleh maybe i need to get over my fears and push this lt1 to redline every shift lol.
96ws6medina 10-25-2006, 11:06 AM see now those are the times that confuse the heck outta me.. ur runnin a .3 faster 60' and only .1-.2 faster 1/8th mile than i run but with a higher mph.. bleh maybe i need to get over my fears and push this lt1 to redline every shift lol.
your car may have fuel issues as the rpms climb, i would check the entire fuel system such as the filter, pump etc. to see if maybe the fuel pressure is dropping off as the rpms climb cause to me that sounds it COULD be the problem.
my 60 is faster obviously cause the bfgs are doing a damn good job of hooking this car up ,with the 18" size and basically no sidewall i cant believe they pulled below a 2.0 60 ft. Downside of these tires is i have been to the track maybe 4-5 times with them and they are damn near gone...bald already but that was expected.
I think the reason im only running .1-.2 faster et is i have just about maxed the car out with the available power stock and stock 2.73 gearing....its just not going to get very much better than 8.75 i feel- i mean it took 26 runs this time to get it down to 8.82 lol and i have the slips to prove it trust me! (8.75 is problably 13.5-13.7 1/4  )
if you are running at tracks where you have to wait a long time between runs it will take you forever to wittle the time away , where i run at, it is a smaller place and its cold as hell so there were hardly anyone there.
good luck im sure you will find your problem sooner or later.

one more thing, where are you shifting and what type of shifting are you doing......dont let up on that go pedal....this is why i went with an auto this time i was sick of the inconsitency of my mustangs t5 ,okay it was problably more me than the tranny but still.:D
JimboManJones 10-25-2006, 12:47 PM bleh maybe i need to get over my fears and push this lt1 to redline every shift lol.
With your mods you should be defintely being shifting at redline, maybe thats your problem, what are you shifting at? Maybe you just need to practice more too.
CamaroRacing12 10-25-2006, 02:54 PM so is it possible to get my basicly stock 95 LT1 with m/t et streets on my stockers.... small weight reductions, open long tubes, and a CAI into the 13.5 range?

I've been 12.9/105 with shorties, CAI, bumpers removed and on ET streets in some really shoddy weather. Mid 13's is realitively easy to do with longtubes and a small amount of weight reduction.

i wouldnt say it would be easy every car is different but it should be atleast possible

maybe, its going to be harder without a stall and some gear. but its worth a try. first things id do to one of these cars would be stall, 3.23s-3.73s, headers and exhaust, cai, 160 t-stat, the knock mod and tuning.

i went 12.8 at 107 at 3620lbs raceweight with longtubes, tune, bfg drag radials and 4.10s...13.5 should be cake on your planned setup

those are gonna seem to me to be the major things to do to one of these cars besides a stall.....no wonder you run a 12.8xx:D
96ws6medina 11-18-2006, 01:23 PM new best in sig...practice is paying off little at a time.:D
