350z race

Im alittle pissed off...i somehow managed to lose to a 350z from a roll :confused: he did however get a very big jump on me...is that enough to make a diffrence? i was going about 45 when i saw him start to fly up around me..as soon has he got close to me i hit it....was a very short race and he thought he was cool with this big grin on his face. Then we caught a light and he turned off....wanted to go from a dig real bad :mad: basicly had to play catch up

I think the newest ones have 300hp... I think you could beat him in a longer race though.

I've race about 4 350z's. Outcome was the same every time. I think it's even worse for them from a roll. From what I've noticed.

The longer the race lasted the more cars I'd put on them. You would think with 300hp they would stick with a LT1 but it's not the case. They do run low 14's at the track. I do have headers so that's probably making the difference. The SRT-4's give me a better run. Over all I still think the LT1 will win. Funny now days a 6 cylinder is giving us a run for our money.

Dont feel to bad, 45 is also a pretty weak spot for autos(with a stock converter), and since he had a jump on you, let him think he won, and next time he sees you, blow his doors off.

that sucks man.. too bad you didnt have a chance to redeem yourself with a more "fair" start.

If someone has a major jump on me, Id rather let them go rather than give them the bs victory and have them make a right turn immediately afterward and deny me a 2nd chance.

Heh I "lost" to a 350z the other day. I got next to him(45mph in OD) and he got on it, was about a car on me before I took off, My car is a stock LS1 and I had the tops +windows off/down. Anyways he put his hazards on right as I was flying up on him maybe 4-5 seconds later so I wouldnt be able to smoke him. I have an auto so it takes a second to get going from a roll. Anyways we catch a light and he talks a bunch of **** about how he beat my v8 camaro. Well I said "lets go from a dig" I put probably 3 or 4 cars on him by 60. Gave him the thumbs up as he did his ricer flyby but he wouldnt look at me! OWNED :cool:

Dont be pissed off because you lost to a 350z in a slow mostly stock 11 year old z28.

It happens. A great driver gets the same times out of a stock Z as he would a stock Z28.

That's too bad.. for some reason for the last couple of times I've been in a racing "altercation" they've all be 350's. All were slow as balls and the only trouble that happened was the driver swallowing his pride after the races were over. None of them recognized. Way to take it personally... :cry:

I've had my run ins with 350Zs and G35s. I put the smack down on them and don't leave much question on who has the faster car. The last 350Z had dealer plates, so that one was extra nice because I just ruined a salesman's day. LOL

Yes, i beat two 350z from a dig i couldn't really catch up to one on the highway, alrighty was going 95 mph, never gave me a chance just kept pulling when i got closer.

I beat one bad the other day with my GN. He looked over at me like i was in some POS grandpa car (little did he know) He thought he had me untill he heard the sound of 17lbs of boost building up and me flying by him smokin my tires. I love driving a sleeper.

Yeah dude thats the guy i bought it from...He has another one there but he painted it white...it looks real good but the only color i want a GN in is black on black. Its a place called Fredericksburg Auto sales on RT 1. Hope to see you around man.

I wouldn't be too disappointed....you're only trapping 100 mph, which is about the same as the 285 hp model Z. What did you expect?

350z's seem to be mediocre in every way when compared to other RWD sports cars. Quick, but not too quick, good acceleration, but not too good, not that much top end.

It's the N/A less than 8 cylinder theorem. Without some kind of FI all < 8 cylinder engines fall on their face.

Usually that's the case. But once and awhile when I'm at TNT I'll see something like a Cobra, Vette or old school muscle car that has a roll bar, tires bigger then my kids and louder then my wife (ok maybe not quite that loud ;) ). I have to be realistic here and expect to lose :(

Can't win em all. Personally I think it would get boring after awhile if you did. Plus a loss is the best motivation I know of to mod some more :D

I can understand that, but going to a track and being lined up w/ a significantly faster car is quite a bit different than street racing or roll racing something much closer in performance.

I remember the first year I had my LS1. I kept saying, "this ones fast enough. No need to mod it." Kept going to the midnight races at the track. Kept picking on hondas and winning. :rolleyes: duh. Finally lined up against a 300z. Got my ass absolutely handed to me. Mods started the next morning. I don't think I'd be even close to 10s without that ass kicking. Probably still stock.

I have taken many a 350z and my fav was this guy who I passed and thought "maybe he wants to run" well as soon as I thought that he was trying to ricer flyby me and I put it in 2nd and nailed him, he was already flooring it and I snarled to life just in time. Old guys aren't very happy when you beat their new $30k toy in an old T/A lol

i did 2 runs with the same 350Z once. First time he took off before me, i caught him, and put a car on him from 65 to 120. The next time we started off even from a 70 roll and i put 2 cars on him by 120. I thought myself they should have some more balls. It had atleast intake and exhaust. Kid was pissed off cause he had his Girlfriend in the car and tried to impress her. She ended up smiling at me tho when she realized her bf's car wasnt all that fast afterall :)

I followed one on the highway one night. Had flaired rear fenders, wider rear tires. I was thinking that maybe this was a supercharged or turbo and good for some competition. Came around him and dropped it into third thinking that he was going to line up. Bastard just tried to do a fly by but I wasn't having any of that. My car is real strong in third at 4500 rpm and I left him bad. He took the next exit.

I agree, Most of the younger generation driving their Daddys 350Z thinks it can smoke most any V8...errr V6 in your case;)
I was at the track just yesterday and these two guys were setting up a race in the staging lanes. This kid in his new 350 that just had a turbo put on it and a tune was telling a guy in a GN that he put down 550 rwhp. The GN guy immediately asked if he wanted to run for $1000 and the rich kid stopped bragging and said I will race for $30 and bragging rights...lol
The guy in the GN told him that would be fine and they staged em up. The GN ripped off a smooth 11.27 @ 127 mph while bringing up the way back was the 350Z with a 12.99 @ 107. What made it so bad was when the kid came back around he didnt want to pay and insisted on a do - over:confused:
After a near ass kicking of him he finally paid and ran a best of 12.57 @ 113 the whole night.
Moral of this story....know your V6s...lol

Well...now im thinking about some Mac mid headers and a tune so the next time i run into a 350z...the outcome will be diffrenet :D
