hey guys. this is the first kill in my z28 im posting about. mine is a 94' z28, with just intake and exhaust, A4. So this kid in my bowling class parks next to me everyday, gets in his car and revs his engine, always wants to race. his car is a 02' WRX, turbo, exhaust, dont know of anything else, its also a manual. so he pulls up to a light on me today, starts revvin his engine, and i just nod. we take off and were right next to eachother for about 100, 150 feet, and i put my foot all the way down, PULL AWAY!!! i pulled atleast 2 or 3 car lengths ahead of him before blowin through a light and he stops.
quick question, how much power do you think he is making with all that? i dont know anything about those, just thought he could beat me with turbo and exhaust? Hopefully this is a Worthy Kill

Good match... WRX comes stock with turbo. Exhaust could be just for noise or could have been more.

Stock versus stock, would be a good match methinks, although if you stayed with him from the start, the guy doesn't know how to launch well.

Trap speed they are down 3-5mph or so, but with a good launch, ETs are about the same.

Totally stock, they lost to my Grand Marquis (intake, SuperChips programmer) from a roll - seriously!

Without mods, all they have is the launch. After that, it's average power (for today's cars) and they need full exhaust and some ECU tuning to get much quicker. Nothing really fun starts to happen until the turbo is upgraded.

No real chips for a WRX... Either remap of stock ECU or stand-alone ECU.

Do you know if he got it tuned?

Off-the-shelp remap with intake is usually a bad combo; usually results in the car running lean/losing a bit of power.

With a proper tune, intake and exhaust done, the WRX moves into the mid-13s realm at around 98-100 mph for the 1/4 mile, so even a better kill for you, hehe.

Ya I took on one of these a few months back just to see what he had. We were both already moving at about 15-20 mph or so.

I was really surprised how much power this car had, this car had to be modded, it was pretty fast. He had another guy in the car also.

We'll, he pretty much kicked my butt for a short period of time. I think it would have been much closer if I raced him all out. I wanted to try from a stoplight and he turned right at the next light. Oh, for this confrontation I didn't have the supercharger connected, I was just N/A. I had to swap out roller rockers and wanted to run it N/A for a few weeks just to make sure everything was okay. Charger is back on now, and the car is faster than **** right now I'll tell ya with the weather getting colder.

Saw one yesterday (turbo WRX) and I wanted to kick his butt. I thought we we're going to race and he pulled off (changed lanes to make a left) at the last second. I want revenge on that car man.

The stock WRX is not that fast at all. Especially since i wasnt the STi. They didnt start with the STi untill 2003. They had 227hp at the Flywheel.. can remember the torque. I used to work for subaru as a tech and know those cars pretty good. about the only time it feels like it has power is about 4000rpms in 1st, and 2nd gear when the turbo finally spools. but it takes forever to get there.

They didnt start with the STi untill 2003.
2004 was the 1st year for the STi in the US. They must have not taught that in Subaru tech school.
