Thanks CALL911 10-03-2006, 03:55 AM Not knowing Felpro's gaskets by heart, are you referring to the Intake gasket? You may want to do a little reaseach. I don't know the exact gasket my motor shop used on my setup, but it was some kind of less dense gasket with the 3M sealent on it. The 3M sealent is key for boosted motors. But again, I am not too knowledgeable on it, so more digging will need to be done. If it is a different gasket, then I apologize for giving info on something you were not asking about. camarossguy2 10-03-2006, 08:56 AM is the felpro 1142 the gasket i need for my 383? going to run 20psi so thats the reason for steping up to the MLS. Thanks I use a new stock and know of serveral high boosters that do to. if i remember correctly, the felpro one is paper or cardboard and seemed cheezy. SMOKNZ 10-03-2006, 09:09 AM I have used, and will continue to use the 1074 head gaskets. The Felpro stock replacements blow out real easy! xxsaint69x 10-03-2006, 11:04 AM guys i am talking about a new felpro head gasket which is made out of multi layer steel....here is the link https://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?lang=-1&catalogId=10002&storeId=10001&categoryId=29251 jerminator96 10-03-2006, 01:00 PM I have a set for my motor, but I'm also not going to run 20psi. I think a lot of guys running high boost use Cometic gaskets. If I ever get my motor together and in the car I'll let you know how well they work. If they blow out the first week then I'd say don't buy them;) xxsaint69x 10-03-2006, 04:41 PM they are just like cometic..but supsosbly better... camarossguy2 10-03-2006, 05:54 PM I use a new stock and know of serveral high boosters that do to. if i remember correctly, the felpro one is paper or cardboard and seemed cheezy. Thought you were talkin intakes Head gaskets i use 1074s TransAm396 10-03-2006, 07:17 PM if they are better and will work..id like em too. they are even a little bit thicker...i wanna hear anything i can with these....so far im planning on 1074's but if these are a little better Ill go with them. Im only going to run 10-14psi 94CamaroZ28 10-03-2006, 08:14 PM guys i am talking about a new felpro head gasket which is made out of multi layer steel....here is the link https://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?lang=-1&catalogId=10002&storeId=10001&categoryId=29251 None of those listings is for an LT1. LT1 is NOT a small block Chevy, and you cannot just use a SBC gasket. You need the LT1 -specific gasket. Looks like they don't have one in the MLS yet. Im only going to run 10-14psi 1074's will be absoloutly fine at those boost levels. I've run mine up to 18 psi! Bill TransAm396 10-08-2006, 01:50 AM 1074's will be absoloutly fine at those boost levels. I've run mine up to 18 psi! Bill O...ok then.:) xxsaint69x 10-08-2006, 12:22 PM went with cometics :p wingnut 10-11-2006, 07:22 PM i blew my 1074's on 14# with my 383... cometics never failed me. wingnut TransAm396 10-11-2006, 07:23 PM i blew my 1074's on 14# with my 383... cometics never failed me. wingnut I guess its all about luck. wingnut 10-12-2006, 10:45 AM I guess its all about luck. True and getting greedy with the pump fuel. I would still be using the 1074's if we had 93 or I mixed in a little 104 like in the past. AFR for the run that blew the gasket was right at 11.8:1, 14#, 23 deg of advance. 9.4 to one comp. It ran 11.6's that night with a bad gasket. Note: My Cometics seep a little coolent and oil. I am also using head studs. Wingnut TransAm396 10-12-2006, 10:48 AM do you like this car better than the turbo ta? wingnut 10-12-2006, 01:59 PM do you like this car better than the turbo ta? Easier to tune and drive, but the turbo made way more linear power. The supercharger seems to make power on an almost exponential scale (x^2) up to the point the cam goes away. The first turbo system ran 10:30's at the same boost #'s, but with an auto and stall - I have a six-speed now. Move into the upper teens and it was a very drivable 9 second car on race fuel. note: now i have AC and PS. wingnut TransAm396 10-12-2006, 04:40 PM HaHa, I took out all of that stuff..I guess ill be where you were a few years back. i remember I used to ask you questions when i was doing my 383/t88...now im downsizing..but still..I took out my AC bcuz I had it in the car for 2 years and never used it once..maybe a couple of times to see if it worked(my car only has 38,000 miles so it did) but I ripped that out, and I even went as far as taking the heater/blower and all of that out this time...so I dont care about being comfortable..thats what the supra is for...or the nissan..lol..I want this one to go fast and still be able to drive it every day.(im keeping PS though) lol Kevin Blown 95 TA 10-12-2006, 05:58 PM Another vote for Cometics. No seepage or leaks of any kind, but I used Hylomar on them. xxsaint69x 10-13-2006, 12:34 AM no leaks for me yet..used copper spray on them :) | ||
