Bayer-Z28 10-02-2006, 01:58 PM ok, I went to drop my buddy off at the body shop off a three lane HW. I left, went down the street, and took a turn in the median to head back the otherway. I was in second at a slow roll... I headed out onto the HW from about 10mph.... WOT, trying to gat back up to speed. As soon as I straighten out I see an SRT4 about 5 car lenghts in back of me so I decide to try to take him...
2nd WOT, and about redliined, 3rd, redline.... and this little bas**rd walks right past me when I'm in top third!!!:mad: ... I shift to 4th, half way thru 4th I give up due to traffic, I ran out of room and I had to get back on to base..
I could have gotten back if I had more room.. But this wouldn't have happened if I had that damn nitrous kit.... but I would have had to open it, turn it on, then turn it on.....
WTF!?!?....:cry:... :o... :mad: .... I mean really... This was just not on the fair side. I was doing about 110 when he walked past me....I should be shot...:cry:
I've raced one before from 60 and it took me till 120 to pass him... there WILL be a rematch next time I see him outside county limits.
Darkfire00 10-02-2006, 02:03 PM SRT-4s are no joke. i was inside one that only had a boost controler and a turbo timer and he took me all the way up to 160... those things arnt good off the line. but on the highway...well thats another story
Bayer-Z28 10-02-2006, 02:13 PM I realise that all they have to do is a cam and a diff turbo to bring them up to 300hp..... They just piss me off that THAT cheap a$$ car can pass a $25,000 V8 F-Body...I REALLY need more mods...I'm not running much anyway... But I've really wanted nitrous lately.

Most of the Honda guys are goin out and buying SRT4's and Cobalts, which I don't mind as in it's good for our market.. but It's killing the Muscle car guys... I don't care... a NEON is NOT a dam sports car!...... But soon snough, we get enough of these idiots gettign into accidents and getting cought street racing their insureance in gerneral will go up...b/c it will be concidered a high rish automobile.
I'm ordering a dam NX 150 dry next week if I can.... I'm tired of this... it's kind of expensive to sink money into my car to make it almost untouchable...
I can't wait till next deployment so I can make bank, come home and throw it into a S/C, H/C and a forged bottom end... and add a 50hp shot of nitrous to the mix... that'd be unstopable... and I'll need a Strange 12b w/ 3.83's.

There is a difference between a economy compact car and a sport compact car. If you said you where beat by a honda accord then I could see frustration but being that it was a sport compact with boost and god knows what else don't feel too bad... first off your car weighs twice as much. Dude's probably making 250 WHP. Its like bikes... a 60 HP bike can beat a 200 HP car cause of the weight difference.
As far as the American V8 world we F body guys have it the hardest... The F body is the heviest compaired to a lighter mustang or even lighter compact car. We have to deal with "terminators" and their stupid super charger. Then the compact cars with their stupid turbos and N2O. We get ridiculed about the Camaro/Firebird being a "White Trash Ferrari" and are almost expected to loose for some reason, *sniff* We F body guys hear about a loss forever and hear excuses when we win. The LT1 and LS1 guys like to poke fun at each other but we bretherin and uh... sisterin?... still have ONE thing in common... we all like to terminate "terminators", squash fox bodies and eat rice the same! :usa:

Face the facts. There are other cars in this world who ALSO run as fast, if not FASTER than our "almighty" F-bodies. Even if they only have 4 cylinders ;). But think about this, the new SRT-8 Charger, with the 6.1L 425 HP Hemi, barely runs into the 13's around ~105 mph ..... even THEY can get beat by one of their own (brand) with ~190 HP LESS than they have!!! :lol: Now THAT'S embarassing :yes:.
Bayer ..... time for heads & cam or some form of forced induction dude. Nitrous is only a "quick fix" and isn't legal on the streets anyways. Keep in mind, your bottle can run out ... their turbo will keep going and going :shrug:.

While N20 is cool, I like the lumpy NA idle, or the whine from a blower better.
At the end of a long, hard, day, id rather get blown than sprayed.

Speeding is already illegal. Racing is already illegal. Why they felt compelled to ban a specific power adder is beyond me.

Dang it.. you guys really are making it difficlut for me to make up my mind.... I REALLLLLLY want a D1SC Procharger... but it's $5,500 for the kit that I'm looking at. I also like the lope of a cam.... I was originally going to save a couple grand for a H/C setup for the spring.... My long term goals are H/C Blown LS1 W/ a forged bottom end and a small whif of nitrous or methanol to help further cool the air charge... Of course the bottom end and the heads will bump the compreession down a smidge. Although I have come this far to figure out what I want to DO w/ the car, I sill have to figure out what first.
THat's kind of why I'm piecing it. I could do the nitrous first... but then there goes the $$ for the H/C for the spring... The D1SC will most likely be bought next deployment... but I'll also need a new rear by then... that's $2,200... But the bottom end cant handle boost AND nitrous w/ a H/C... So it'll almost be the Boost, then the bottom end then the H/C, then the nitrous/methanol.
It's going to be around $19000 for everything I want... iiesh.. big number... TO finish the car that is. After all that I should be good.................... yeah RIGHT!...:lol:

Those SRT4's are going for around $20k so they aren't that much cheaper than your F-body. They run decent even with no mods but with mods they are definately not a walk in the park.
I saw a vid of one that had a larger turbo, injectors, fuel system, DRs, lots of weight removed and she was running 10s. SO just beware...you never know what your gonna get.
And if money is an issue with your modding decision then I would suggest that you take a step back and look at all you want to do with your car. if you truely want to do the charger and nitrous, then get the motor yanked out and rebuilt to handle the boost and have a blower cam installed. Then get the charger installed and so on ,,,etc
