MTBeni 09-30-2006, 12:17 AM Just wanted to share my new times. Previous best was 8.76 at 81.84 with 2.12 60ft. I added a 3000 stall and removed the front swaybar, everything else the same. Weather was finally pretty decent, and I was expecting high 8.5s since Im still running Sumitomo HTRs. I feathered the throttle and launched like a bat out of hell. I got the slip and I nailed a 1.93 60ft with a 8.49 at 81.38. I busted the second run spinning and the trans shifted when I let out of it (still got a 1.98 60 though). The track was busy, so I had to wait over an hour for my third run. I gave the tires a good burnout (which I swear works on these tires) and here's my new best:
1.91 60ft
8.43
81.98
I was representing as the ONLY LT1 at the track. I ran a 2004 ZO6 Vette and he beat me by .02. We were both shocked:) What do you guys think, and where should I go from here?
Razor_Blade 10-01-2006, 11:52 PM Nice improvement. .33 in the 1/8th should be at least .5 in the 1/4. What gear ratio are you running, and what converter did you go with?
I'm getting ready to order a converter for my near stock LT1. If it nets me .5, I will be way happy.
camzaro28 10-02-2006, 09:56 AM them are some really good times. i have CAI, EWP, pulley, over you and ran these times yesterday
1.81 60ft
8.411 1/8th ET
81.84 1/8th mph
which in the qtr was 13.21@102.2
MTBeni 10-02-2006, 05:24 PM Im stil running 3.23s. A 3000-3200 stall really wakes these cars up. Ive seen many LT1 and LS1s run pretty good with 3.23s still, but the stall really makes the difference. Dont get me wrong, you should pick up some with gears (how much is debatable on the LT1) but the stall is better for bang for the $$
BTW, the stall is an Xtreme Transmissions converter. I got a hell of a deal and its a 9.5, bought it new off of someone who changed their setup
CamaroRacing12 10-02-2006, 05:40 PM how much does a 3000 stall hurt ur a4 tho?
MTBeni 10-02-2006, 06:37 PM I have only 56k miles on my car, so I can really say for long-term. I have bumped up the line pressure though, through tuning. I also get the same mpg as before. I take it pretty easy though.
2000GTP 10-02-2006, 09:05 PM Nice improvement. What kind of sixty foot times were you hitting before changing the converter and pulling off the front swaybar?
MTBeni 10-02-2006, 09:49 PM 2.12 was the average. Best ever was 2.02ish
CamaroRacing12 10-03-2006, 03:20 PM so a stall helps a crap load for ur 60ft huh?
2000GTP 10-03-2006, 03:39 PM 2.12 was the average. Best ever was 2.02ish
Not bad, you got a nice improvment. Now put on some real tires and really chop those sixty foot times down.:)
MTBeni 10-03-2006, 06:06 PM I think the sway bar removal helped alot in getting those 60s on street tires. Im sure I could have gotten a high 1.8 with some practice. I have a total of 4 runs at the track with this setup, and the converter makes launching way different. The stall really helps it get out of the hole, but the swaybar helped traction
CamaroRacing12 10-03-2006, 09:51 PM ur a fighter pilot?
MTBeni 10-04-2006, 03:17 PM WSO(weapons system officer). The pilot just drives the plane, I do all the fun stuff. He goes where I tell him too:) Plus, I get controls too and can fly.
CamaroRacing12 10-04-2006, 06:53 PM so ur the guy who pushes the button to drop the big ass bombs? lol sweeeet
MTBeni 10-04-2006, 08:11 PM yea I guess you can say that. Im also the one who "drives" in the weapon. Im sure youve seen some of it on TV highlights of a bomb going down a ventilation shaft or through a window.
RedRyder518 10-04-2006, 08:14 PM Nice times! You have any idea what the density altitude was? If not, what was the weather like?
CamaroRacing12 10-04-2006, 08:53 PM yea dude.... GPS guided weapons....laser guided ****..... so if u wanted to u could launch a missle miles away form my house and get it perfectly right thru my window and hit me in the face on my computer right now?
MTBeni 10-04-2006, 10:28 PM Im not sure what the DA was. I run at Holt which is close to Eglin AFB. Track altitude is about 120ft. I guess the DA was 200-300, just a guess though. Weather was kinda low humudity for this time of year, and temps in the low 60s if I remember right.
about the weapons, yea something like that. We run timing drills/training down to the second, so it could be done right at kickoff on Sunday at the Bucs/Saints game. :) God I love it my job. I am off to T-38 training for 2 months before moving to NC to start on F-15Es. Ive been in training for almost 2 years and still have 1 more until I become operational.
