Gold Bowtie

Ed Welburn (GM VP of Global Design) was on Autoline Detroit over the weekend. He said although the Camaro and Vette would stand out for the "Chevy theme," they would both definitely have the gold bowtie front and center.

I guess my first purchase for my 5th gen will be a can of spray paint for the bowtie. I know a lot of people were wishing for a different color too.

What color are you going to paint it?? Flat black??

I think putting a great big gold bowtie on all their cars is very tacky. ESPECIALLY GOLD. Second only to brown as the worst in my opinion.

I'd rather mine be blue.....but maybe thats just me :shrug:

i have no problem with the gold bowtie. i'm sad to see the red bowtie go since it was always the color on the baddest cars, but i like the gold bowtie and i'm glad Chevy is going for a uniform look on all their cars in all countries.

Would be kind of cool if the bow tie matched your paint color of the car..... could even have a little of gold trim around the edges......

I can tell you guys that Design feels pretty strongly about the gold bowtie.

They make tons of aftermarket stuff.

And you can bet that when the car is released, the aftermarket will be flooded with every type of accessory you can imagine.

I probably wont paint mine, but i will buy a black or red one like the one on my 06 Tahoe.

i wouldnt worry about the color im sure there will be a lot of aftermarker replacement colors

Very classic...I loved the one we had on our ZL-1.

i like the lack of a bowtie on the 4th gens. the red, white, and blue camaro marker on the grille is fine for me..

I always thought the gold bowtie was more for trucks.

I’m not too opposed to a gold bowtie…..I think it would look pretty good with SOM ;)

Now.. ok.. I can understand a bowtie in the 5th Gen camaro.. but a bowtie in the corvette? why??? everyone in the planet knows.... this: "Corvette by Chevrolet" don't ruin the lines of the vette with the bowtie. I am a hard core GM fan.. but i think they shouldn't add that to the vette :(

I really don't care. I change them anyway. Although, it was a pain with the gold bowties on the centercaps of wheels on my TBSS.

I prefer red. I can always paint, or buy an aftermarket one.

everyone in the planet knows.... this: "Corvette by Chevrolet" Until I was about 10 years old I thought the Corvette was its own car company, like Ferrari or Lamborghini. It wasn't until I saw a '67 Camaro with the crossed flags on the fender I realized they were from the same company.

But then again, I find yellow gold gaudy and cheap looking. Gimme white gold or silver.

But I personally would rather have a brushed aluminum bowtie. Or I'll just do what I did on my 2000 S10 Xtreme. Paint all the bowties a dark purple.

Im not a fan of the big ass gold Bowtie on them either..but to me they did good working it into the grill.....now if it was really retro-fit they would throw just the SS and RS lettering in there instead of a Bowtie......now all that is needed to complete the front end.....hide-a-way headlights plz.......I think I would pretty much spooge myself if that was an option....and it would deff be on mine

I don't think anyone's ashamed of having a bowtie necessarily.

I think the color is more the problem. Personally I don't like gold anything.

Naw, your car looks great, but I think I know what EllwynX is talking about: A more intense shade of gold, bordering on the color of what new babies leave in their diapers. Not a good color, IMHO.

LOL No offense, but that is a color that belongs ONLY on SUV's, Trucks and Family Sedans. Even on them I don't like it.

In 1967, Granada Gold was a VERY popular color on several of GM's cars. You'll see that paint code on a LOT of cowl tags.

That hideous Olive Green was also very popular in the 70's (My parents had a VW Bug and a 1970 Camaro in that color). Doesn't make it any more attractive. ;)

I think the gold bowtie is just fine.

Actually, put a little red-white-and-blue trim around it and create yourself a 5th Gen Camaro badge. :)

I'm going to miss the blue and red bowties. Before the word came down about this switch, I'd never even heard someone say the words gold bowtie together. Blue Bowtie means something when you say it. I doubt I'll ever get the truck image out of my head when I think or see a gold bowtie. It's not often you see a company change an endearing logo after 90+ years making people passionate about it. I hope some day a new marketing team feels just as strongly about bringing it back.

I liked my 67 having the "R/S" emblem in the grill.
I think if they Do make the R/S or SS they should put this
in the grill instead of the bowtie. WAY COOL :cool: :cool: :cool:

I'm not a big fan of the gold bowtie, don't hate it, i think i would just prefer the old camaro emblem there instead.... or like mc63 and White95LT1 mentioned, put the SS, RS in the middle.

Red and blue bowties are what i think of when i think chevy, of course i also have a set of christmas lights that are alternating red and blue bowties :D

oh and wtf are they getting rid of the corvette emblem? I thought that was always one of the coolest things about the old vettes was the crossed flags and engine size

Actually, those aren't stock...stock badge is chrome. Alot of guys put the red one on because it "means performance," like the mid 90's Monte Z34's had red badges (chrome for LS), and the LT1 Camaro's too...

I HATE Gold!!! I cant' stand freaking gold Bowties!!! My Xtreme got swapped for a billet one then later for a black with red outline SS one and all the other Bowties were painted red. If my 02 had gold Bowties they'd be painted as well. Replacing the gold Bowtie on my 5th gen will be one of my first mods.

I'm with you.

All the bowties on my White '00 Xtreme were painted purple. On the wheels they were outlined in white.

It's in the cross flags. It used to be red . . . now it's gold. I hope the flags stay.
