5th gen, saleen, and the Ford/GM merger?

could saleen working on the transformers camaro have anything to do with the impending Ford/GM merger? it just seem odd that saleen has always done ford products but now they r workin on the new camaro. i donno just thought it was odd.

I'd say that impending is a little bit too strong of a word for the situation at hand. Saleen working on the transformer Camaro has nothing to do with the supposed merger that I feel is unlikely to take place. Hopefully GM is smarter than that.

GM and Ford will not merge.........and no it has nothing to do with Camaro and Saleen

I won't say "never" (I don't want to be the guy to have a comment like that blow up in my face;)) but I'd say it would be a chilly day in hell before GM and Ford merge? :think: :shrug:

Although Ford isn't doing all that great at the moment, I don't know that GM is exactly in a position to "bail them out" either?? :rolleyes:

I'm sure that the Saleen involvement in the Transformers movie is totally independent of anything to do with GM / Ford ..... I'm sure they're strictly the builder/designer for the movie cars? :cool:

Some people are reading wayyyy too much into the news lately. Next we will be finding secret codes in the newspaper where GM and Ford agree to to merge two cars into a Camustang.

Popular tuner Saleen is open to working with automakers other than Ford, founder Steve Saleen told Ward's Auto. "It has to make business sense and fit in with our philosophy and appropriate branding, but we're looking at other opportunities and only time will tell," he said. Saleen also commented on Ford's financial troubles. "Ford is not causing us problems, but its problems are something we're watching closely," he said. Saleen didn't elaborate on any future products from other automakers, but there is some speculation the tuner may offer a customized version of the 2009 Chevy Camaro.

i dont see chevy and ford merging. i dont even thing the government would let them. they may continue to work on more projects together like the new a6.

There is NO Ford/GM merger!

It's an instance where news medias took a mouse (in this case, GM & Ford looking at more cost saving collaberations..... they have already developed a 6 speed FWD transaxle together) and turned it into this elephant.

no, they will not merge...but it wouldn't stop saleen(the independent company) from modding camaros
