yellow headlight lens

i`ve had my z for two years and keep it spotless,but my headlight lenses are getting film or ozidation or something making them have a haz on them,make my car look like crap,i hate headlight(or even taillight covers)they seem to fly off at the worst times.does anyone know how to get this crap off my car.had a door to door car detailer say he could get it off for $200.HELP

Depends on where the hazing and yellowing is, on the inside of the lens or the outside. Many times it's on the inside, and there's not much you can do. If it is on the outside, all you need is a plastic cleaner and polish. Zaino makes a great one, also 3M and Meguiar's make separate cleaners and polishes for plastic. I've seen the Meguiar's and 3M at NAPA stores.

Or, if you have a metal polish on hand, try that first on the outside. I've used Meguair's metal polish on my lenses on the old Camaro, and they looked great afterwards. Metal polishes can be used if you can't find a suitable plastic cleaner and polish.
