30thZ286speed 09-14-2006, 10:19 PM Just wondering if the turn out is looking good this year, I'll be down Friday morning, probably around noon. I heard the red concept was there instead of the silver one. That is ok with me, I saw the silver one in Atlanta but I will miss hearing it run.
Hope to see some of you all this weekend.
Doug Harden 09-15-2006, 06:33 AM We'll be there just after lunch... :D
Chris 96 WS6 09-15-2006, 08:35 AM I will be there in the morning with the wife and kid. I will be the ONLY dude there in an LS1LT1.com shirt if anybody wants to say hello. :D
2000SilverLS1 09-15-2006, 06:12 PM Aren't you the one with the kid that has a birthday party?

Her birthday and party was over labor day weekend.
I ended up loning it. THe little one had a fever so she and mommy stayed home.
I was REALLY disappointed with the turnout this year. There was simply nobody there....I thought the concept would draw more folks to town.

I 2nd that! I drove up on Saturday expecting to see a ton of Camaros, and there weren't. I was pretty disappointed. I was also disappointed that I didn't get to hear the silver one running. On a high note, it was nice getting to hear all of the things that Scott had to say.
CLEAR 09-17-2006, 10:08 PM yes i was there saturday. there wasnt much of a turnout. i did enjoy all that scott had to say. his presentation was very informative.i was surprized how much i liked the concept car.
Chris 96 WS6 09-17-2006, 10:12 PM I missed Scott's seminar. We went at 11 to Logans for lunch, got caught in traffic due to a wreck on Scottsville Rd and essentially took us all afternoon to get there eat, and get back. I did get to catch up with him later that afternoon before hitting the road.
95 Z/28 LT1 09-17-2006, 10:16 PM Friday there were quite a few more cars because that was the day of the show.. Still not as many cars as I've seen in the past there though.
30thZ286speed 09-17-2006, 11:08 PM My weekend pretty much sucked!
I was planning on getting there about lunch time Friday, ran into some problems, didn't get down there until 10 mins til closing time. Everyone pretty much already cleared out. We ate dinner at Logan's then went to the Beech Bend, on my 3rd run I shreaded the serpentine belt. It was completely gone, except for some shreads on the A/C compressor, it must have fallen on the track somewhere. We limped back to the hotel under battery power and no power steering, good thing the water pump is cam powered.
Got up early Saturday morning, called a shop that can change belts, they also called a tow truck for us since the battery didn't have much left. It took the tow truck 2+ hours to get there, by the time we made it to the shop they were closing in 15 mins. They agreed to stay and fix the car, but they didn't have a belt in stock, they had to order one from Napa. Napa got there in 30 mins. with the belt, after that it didn't take them long at all to put on the belt.
2 thumbs way up for Mark's Muffler Shop on Scottsville Rd. for staying late and fixing my car, if they didn't I probably would have been out of luck for the rest of the weekend and would have to gotten a rental car to drive back home on Sunday.
By the time we made it back to the museum it was time for Scotts seminar. Its a good thing I didn't pre-register this year, because I pretty much missed everything. In fact we didn't register at all, by the time we had a chance to most everything was over and all the T-shirts were gone. So we just paid general admission to NCM looked over the concept and sat in on Scott's seminar, which as always was a real treat, listening to Scott talk. After the seminar was over, we went outside and most everone had already cleared out. So much for going around and checking out everyones F-Bodies. Across the street at the Country Hearth Inn, the parking lot was full of F-Bodies, and I wondered:confused: why aren't these people over here in the NCM lot? Well we decided to leave and head toward Nashville for the evening.
This year was a huge dissappointment, I really thought the concept would draw in the people to this years event, I believe some fault goes to NCM because they have really let the schedule get stale, they need some changes to get the poeple to come back every year. Offer more things and get some vendors in there, go all out like they do with the Corvette events. There was some talk on suspending next years event, and if they do, I bet they will never bring it back.
Chris 96 WS6 09-18-2006, 08:51 AM Friday there were quite a few more cars because that was the day of the show.. Still not as many cars as I've seen in the past there though.
Good to meet you Saturday afternoon by the way.

I agree I thought the concept would draw more people. I also agree the schedule is stale. IMO they need more going on OUTSIDE.. music...an MC belting out announcements......They need to recruit more vendors (there was a whopping 1 this year) and generally have more activities going on outside. In past years there were multiple GM people there for seminars. This year just Scott.
My guess is we'll see the NCM event take a year off and perhaps in '08 it will come back with a vengance, and maybe even a pre-production Camaro by then.
scrmnws6 09-18-2006, 01:59 PM I was there Wed-Sun. Had an awesome time. Hopefully the event in Detroit next year will yield a bigger turnout.
OctaneZ28 09-18-2006, 02:13 PM Awesome time in BG this year. :)
I too expected a bigger turnout, but regardless I'm sure everyone there had a great time, and those that didn't go missed out BIG TIME.
Already looking forward to next year's event!
I'll definitely be there regardless of location. :)
meissenation 09-18-2006, 04:04 PM What's this about it being in Detroit next year?
Doug Harden 09-18-2006, 04:17 PM What's this about it being in Detroit next year?
There's a better than even chance that it'll be held in conjunction with the WCA's 40th Anniv. event at the Tech Center in MI. in 2007.
meissenation 09-18-2006, 05:24 PM  Thanks for the info, Doug. I'll definitely have to check this out next year.
Unfortunately, Bowling Green and my work schedule + college class schedule just never work out to allow me to go... if only I were out of college and had the funds to do these events, I'd be going to the Bowling Green event and the Atlanta FBody Gathering too! :(
Fbodfather 09-19-2006, 12:28 AM I think events are what you make them.
Frankly, we asked the museum to drop a number of events because the attendees in past years told us there was too much to do .....and not enough time to do it in....further, many events would overlap......
The original intent of the NCM Camaro/Firebird Reunion was to allow everyone to kick back and relax one more time before the show season ends......that's why we didn't have judging the past couple of years. We did this year because some Firebird owners told us that we'd get more Firebirds if we had a judged show...............
I think most people have just as much fun in the evenings sitting in the parking lots enjoying each others' company. (I know I do and judging by the numbers every night in the Country Inn and the Continental Inn...I think others would agree.
We did have three different organized cruises -- and of course, Beech Bend - The Corvette Assembly Plant - tours of the NCM -- etc.
We have decided to put the NCM Reunion on hiatus for one year.....and instead concentrate on the Camaro/Firebird 40th Anniversary at the GM Technical Center in Warren, MI -- August 9 to 11 of 2007. This will be in conjuction with Classic Chevy International (50th Anniversary of the 1957 Chevy) and World Wide Camaro. Yes, Firebirds are welcome and I encourage everyone to attend.
Details are being worked on -- more later -- but now's a good time to mark your calendars.
meissenation 09-19-2006, 07:03 AM I will DEFINITELY be there again! I had such a great time at the GM Tech center on August 10th for the Camaro Rally, and I sure won't miss the 40th Anniversary.
scrmnws6 09-19-2006, 12:06 PM Just wanted to say thanks to Scott for being at the event and sharing the love for our vehicles.
Had a great time and will be in Detroit for 07. The parking lot sessions were always packed with people. Definatly a good time.

Ditto! It was a great time in BG getting to see alot of friend's and meeting new one's. With everything that went on I still enjoy the night's hanging out in the parking lot's the best!
sselie 09-20-2006, 08:01 AM After attending the B.G. event for the last 5 years, I'm not terribly picky about the events and what's on the schedule. Heck, after a while, all the caves start to look the same anyway!
For me, it has evolved into an event that is more about looking forward to seeing old friends from all over the continent once a year and catching up with them as well as making new friends.
Just amazing to me that a car has been responsible for me having so many new friends in my life.
I'm really looking forward to next August in Detroit!
Best regardSS,
Elie

Thanks for the heads up :D . I wanted to go to the CCI show this year (I have a '56 Chevy), but I couldn't :( . I wanted to go to Bowling Green too, but school got in the way  . Hopefully I will be able to hit the next CCI show.

LoveMT 09-20-2006, 04:57 PM This was my first Camaro event ever, we drove 12 hours from Orlando, and I don't think I could have had a better weekend. I personally loved the intimate feel.
From the tour to the caverns . . .
To all the beautiful F-bodies in the parking lot . . .
To the owners dinner . . .
To the lake tour . . .
To the Country Inn parking lot congregation . . .
To the NCM and all its wonderful employees . . .
I can truly say I had a wonderful time. I enjoyed that we got to meet and see the same people from day to day. You got to know their names, their cars and where they were from.
The icing on the proverbial cake? Sitting next to Scott at dinner and enjoying his stories and passion for the these cars. It is so cool to personally witness someone enjoy their job so much.
My calendar is already marked for Detroit next summer.

desert_fox_74 09-23-2006, 08:46 PM I had heard about this gathering and thought it would be a cool chance to see the concept and have a "Do America" tour.
I was a little shocked at the lack of turnout. I think LVF-body Invasion in Vegas had almost as many cars this year.
For an outsiders point of view, BG seemed like a gathering of people that see each other on a regular basis, or at the very least communicate regularly, and while they were friendly, with a few exceptions, we were never really given the feeling that we part of the crowd. Don't get me wrong, we had a blast at the show, did the lake tour and went to the banquet (sat with some really nice people from Nashville), but didn't really feel welcome to the gatherings at the Country Inn ect, we wound up spending Friday night in a bowling alley watching some of the locals do drunken karaoke.
We're still debating on if it would be worth the drive to Detroit next year though it's even longer than the PHX to BG trip.
We might wait and see who plans on going first, that way I might possibly know someone else beyond whoever we drag out of the desert with us.

Hi Val!
I'm really sorry to hear that you didn't feel welcome at the Country hearth. Actually, most of those enthusiasts never see each other with exception of B/G! They are a fiesty bunch -- and I'm really sorry that you didn't say something to me about it!
The best part of owning a Camaro or Firebird is the friendships!

Oh, I want to be all over this one like an IRS agent on a lotto winner! That's perfect timing. Thanks for the heads-up.
