Is it possible to let Zaino haze too long?

I just finished applying a coat of Z2+ZFX to my Grand National. It's hazing over as I type this.

This is only my third attempt at applying Zaino polish. The first time, I applied way too much polish. The second time, I got the amount right, but I wiped it off too soon and left some light streaks.

So will anything go wrong if I wait too long? It's warm out (76 degrees, 54% humidity), and the car is in the shade (in the garage). The hood, which I did first, was visibly hazed over by the time I finished the last body panel.

What's an ideal amount of time to let the polish do its thing before I wipe it off?

When I use ZFX, both Z5 Pro and Z2 Pro are dry by the time I make it all the way around the car.

Last weekend, I applied it in the garage with the door open and pouring rain outside - it was still dry in 15 minutes.

How much are you using per coat?

Just do a test by applying light pressure on your removal cloth and rubbing it across the hazed wax one time. If all of it is removed with no signs of cloudiness or streaks, then you are typically good to go. To be extra sure, remove in the same order you applied.

In very humid weather or 40-50 degree weather with overcast I've seen it take as long as an hour. ZFX supposedly helps to speed this process but I guess I haven't done enough side by side comparisons with and without. I tried to apply Zaino once in the garage when it was below freezing outside and waited a couple hours and still wasn't convinced it was cured. I ended up waiting until the next morning to remove it and it was noticably more difficult after it had been sitting there for 10 hours.

i've let it sit in a garage overnight many many many many times, always seemed to look good and come off easier.

Like ZaneO, I go all the way around the car, and by the time I get to where I started applying the Zaino, its ready to be buffed off.

I use really light coats, BTW, for example I can regularly get 4 complete coats out of one application bottle, full to the top, with the right # of drops of the accelerator.

With Zaino, the lighter the coat, the better the result, I've found.

That's actually too much. The average is 3 full coats for 1/2 of the mixing bottle (1 oz.).

1/3 of an ounce of polish to do an entire vehicle? I'd really like to see that done. Doesn't seem possible to me unless you spend a pointless amount of time ensuring you're still putting down polish evenly across the entire surface?

One ounce covers the entire GN, which has probably 50% more surface area than Camaro.

I agree with Kyle -- trying to spread it thinner and still ensuring that I'm getting any coverage at all would triple the time it takes to apply.

I ended up waiting about a half hour. The car took about a half hour to do, and I did the body panels in the same order, so that's about an hour of total haze time.

It looks great in anything but very bright, direct sunlight -- it's a bit streaky then. So I could be convinced that I'm using too much, but I'm not sure what to do about it -- I applied as thin as I reasonably could!

I've never,ever,ever had a problem with Zaino drying.

I do it all the time. I spend about 15 minutes applying.

I've done a GNX before...1/2 oz. is more than enough to get a full coat. I can do the same on our Tahoe (2 coats with 1 oz.).

If you get streaking, wipe those areas with distilled water.

No it can be done, I use just under an oz on my Escalade and can apply two coats to every part of the truck, it really does not take any longer. :)

Are you guys using #314 Zaino applicator pads? My applicator pad alone absorbs half an ounce. :)

I use the cotton applicator and foam applicators. Not too much difference for me.

No matter what applicator you choose, spritz it with distilled water or Z6 before applying product, and then again every few panels.
