Need to replace speakers on stock unit...

I have an 8 Speaker Bose Setup on my 01 Z28, My driverside speaker is beggining to make alot of cracking sounds so I'm going to replace it. What is a quality but relatively inexpensive speaker brand to replace it?

I'm not going for an entirely new sound system TOO soon but I eventually will change it so for right now, I would prefer the speakers to beable to handle the increased amps from a better system but they don't have to...

...Also, do I need to look into 2-way or 3-way speakers? Will any re-wiring be required for either? :confused:

You need to check and see what the impedance is of the stock speakers. The car audio industry standard is 4 ohms. IIRC Bose uses a lower than standard impedance speaker (1 or 2 ohms possibly) in their systems. While a 4 ohm speaker will probably work it may not sound as good as it should.

There's also Bose's powered speaker pods to consider. Bose uses an amplifier for each speaker which may not work very well with after-market speakers.

get some kicker speakers. i have a whole sound system setup and they are amazing. i got 4 of them off ebay for $150. so if you find them for a good price, get them!! i have them amped and have no distortion what so ever.
