Mine stays at 60! pretty much 100% of the time unless you crank it up and shift it about 4k not warmed up and then it about hits 80psi

I got the ported ls6 oil pump.

Can you please make a foto of your gauge? I german camaro maniac and our gauges have KPA values. I dont know where your 60psi stays.

How is that to change the oilpump?

The 60psi is the 3rd mark on the gague..or the one before MAX or 80psi(last one on the thing)

The oil pump is not on the oil pan in the ls1. Many people change them to the ported ls6 pump!

For normal driving around, the pressure should be at least around the ~40 psi or 275 kPa mark. On start-up / cold driving, mine will run really high as well (close to the 80 psi / 550 kPa mark). If it's just idling when it's hot, it'll drop below the 40 / 275 mark (never as low as 20 / 140 though).

Whether the gauge is perfectly accurate or not, at least it's a good reference/comparison to know if your engine is starting to lose pressure over time.

ALTHOUGH, my Dad's last pick-up ('89 Sierra) had really high miles on it, and the oil pressure sender became defective. The gauge would BARELY hit the 20 psi / 140 kPa mark with the engine revving high, and it would drop off-scale low at idle. So he figured the motor was shot (had well over 250k miles on it;)) so we put in a fresh re-build. Well right off the bat, the check gauges light was on and the oil pressure was barely registering:think:. He then changed the pressure sender and the oil pressure was rock solid between ~60 - 80 psi. Chances are the original motor was still fine;) (it ran great still :thumb: ).

Yes, i loosing presure, but soon i will change the oil and then i will take a look if the pressure allready is low.

What pressure does yours normally run at? Does it stay at, or near the 275 kPa mark?? :shrug: Does it move around a lot (depending on whether the engine is hot or cold?)
