The car was originally carb so i plan to stick with the carb. I saw blueprint engines offer a 383 in jegs for 3k. Was wondering if anyone had any experiences with this engine. Another route i was thinking of is the zz4 shortblock with a combo from trickflow. What do you guys think would be the best quality.

this is the 383

i would prob buy it as the base engine

As always this greatly depends on usage. Jeg's has a good rep., so I would not be "afraid" to buy this engine from them.
So..., if this is for a street/strip car, the 383, with it's torque, looks like it would be really fun to drive. But like most 383's it has a cast crank and is externally balanced. Which normally means you have to keep the rpm lower, not usually a problem for a street car.
For someone who has a light car and wants to see 7000rpm or has to limit the cubes to 350ci. the ZZ4 might be a better pick.
I don't think you would be unhappy with either engine.

Good luck.

its def going to be more of a street/ weekend car that will hardly see the track.
