Quick question on OBDII scanners...

I'm looking for a scanner that will allow me to check all the sensors(live data) so I can actually do some real trouble shooting for once, and quit parts swapping out the ass. I do not have a laptop and would like to avoid any of thoose solutions. Main reason I am attracted to a scanner is not only that it doesn't require a computer, but that I can use it on multiple vehicles, a huge PLUS.

Question: Looks like the two best bets are between the Actron 9145 and Autoxray 4000/5000/6000 - Both the actron and 3 Autoxray ones say that they will do 'manufacturer-specific codes / live data' but the Autoxray 6000 says it will do the same + 'OBD-II Enhanced codes' so whats the difference between live manf codes vs. the enhanced?

The 9145 is pretty much dirt cheap, and looks like a good unit, but will it let me see live values for everything for troubleshooting?

Enhanced codes gives you info on practically all the sensors on the drivetrain. Some, like ABS, won't be there, afaik. I think at Autoxray's site, there is a long list of the parameters of enhanced codes, and there is quite a bit of difference when compared to the generic parameters.

The AutoTap website lists the "enhanced parameters".

Man thats not an accurate list, it lists stuff like 'ECT Sensor' 'Knock Retard
' 'Intake Air Temperature' I know for a fact thoose are normal vehicle specific parameters, or even standard OBDII parameters that any of thoose scanners will pick up on, not enhanced ones. Plus that list has stuff listed like 2 or 3 times just to make it longer.....

My question is without the enhanced, just the vehicle specefic, will I be able to get values like this with the 9145:

or would it be alot less, and as to the logging - I know it can't do to much, but I would be able to view it live and write it down while testing right?

I also noticed in my 5 hours of searching the board that you have the 9145 yourself injunner, so would you mind commenting on its usefulness, would really appreciate the info.......

That is a list of the GM enhanced parameters. It includes the "generic" parameters, which are also included in a link on the same page. Obviously there is overlap. Apparently you already have all the answers you need..... so I'll butt out.

No, no, I was not trying to be rude in the slightest bit, I'm sorry if it was taken that way, I do not have all the answers, thats why I'm here begging!! please lol, was just angry at autotaps list, there is no excuse for overlap, that is just marketing, trying to make it look like you get so so much more with thoose, even on the left column, at the end it lists the IAT 2x in a row, any ammount of proof reading would have picked that up on autotaps part.
