Hey guys, i installed my torque arm a while back and it clicks or makes a thumping noise when i go over bumps, or put it in reverse. it feels like its hitting up on the floor or something. But i checked all the bolts and everythings tight? is this normal? thanks guys

Is it an adjustable torque arm? Do you have the pinion angle setting correct if so? Are the bushings properly lubricated? My torque arm has some additional noise and road harshness to it, but nothing to unbearable or extremely noticable.

check the tranny mount....it's the most likely source. other than that check the TA mount on the tailshaft, that may be loose.

So the tranny mount where the old front part of the factory torque arm mounted needs to be intact? I'll check that out, thanks guys

If you have a tunnel brace mounted torque arm, you can discard the factory front TA mount ("clamshell")... it's not needed.

I have a tunnel mounted torque arm the UMI one, but i still dont know where the sounds coming from. Like i said its a noticable thump or light thump sound when driving over bumps or potholes in the road, or when i put it in reverse it makes a louder noise. Not quite sure where its coming from but i can pretty much feel it on the floor under my seat where the tunnel mount is, it feels like.

I'm about to install the same TA... one thing I noticed in the instructions: The bolts on the front link of the TA must be torqued at 40-50 ft lbs... that's critical since it's a pivot point.

But, you've got the same instruction sheet, so you've probably already done that. A floor mounted TA will introduce more noise and vibration into the interior of the car. Maybe what you're experiencing is normal?

OK, will do. But my car's a 6-spd, so it may not be directly comparable.
