How is the Dodge Magnum selling?
How is the Dodge Magnum selling?
When it first came out here in SoCal they were all over the place but recently Im noticing fewer of them on the road. While the 300 and Charger are becoming even more popular by the day, I can't say the same thing for the Magnum.
Is this just a coastal SoCal thing? Are Magnum sales starting to lag on a national scale?
Does anyone have any sales breakdowns for 05 vs 06 so far??

Re: How is the Dodge Magnum selling?
I think it depends on where you live or where you are when you see these things. I tend to see Magnums all over my neck of the woods, and two neighbors have SRT8's. I'm in SoCal too.
Re: How is the Dodge Magnum selling?
For the month of July, Magnum sales are down a staggering 59%, and for the month outsold GTO by only 400 cars ( 1718 vs 1373). It was Magnum's worse month and one of GTO's best.
For the year, Magnum's sales have cooled down 33% to about 24,000 so far this year. Chrysler actually planned and expected Magnum sales to cool down alot when the Charger's production hit it's stride. Charger sales are up 53% over last July, so not only is Dodge still seeing a net gain in conquest buyers with the LX, but the 8,000 Chargers sold in July without incentives, came within 800 cars of outselling the Grand prix (8,800 cars) which does have incentives.

Don't think there is a lot of Magnum/GTO cross shopping going on.

Re: How is the Dodge Magnum selling?
No cross shopping going on between the station wagon and 2 door coupe. Just comparing numbers between a very low volume car to show how low a moderate volume car's sales have dropped for the month of July.
In another thread I compared the Solstice's number with the GTO's as a guage to how many are being produced per month and to show an interesting fact (the although the Solstice sold only 40 fewer cars for the month of July, the Solstice outsold GTO 2 to 1 in year-to-date sales ending August 1st.

Re: How is the Dodge Magnum selling?
I think Gui's GTO vs Magnum comparo is fine. Most people dogged the GTO for slow sales but ironically the Magnum isn't doing that much better considering it's wagon-like functionality is supposed to be filling the needs that coupes 'supposedly' aren't meeting in today's marketplace.
I doubt DCX will produce another version of the Magnum and that lost Magnum production volume will most likely be made up by vehicles with better profit margins like the upcoming Challenger and Imperial.

Re: How is the Dodge Magnum selling?
I wouldn't deduce too much on the Magnum sales just yet. It's year-to-date sales are still about 1/3 off last year when the car was still selling above original expectations plus this year, the Charger is no doubt taking a few sales.
If Magnum's sales don't recover and it doesn't sustain at least 25-30,000 cars annually, then it might be in trouble. As far as I know, it's still going to be redesigned with the 300 and Charger in a couple of years.

In the Northeast, its sales are simply flat awful. Dealers around here are doing anything they can to get out of their 2005 leftovers...they are PAINFULLY slow sellers around here.
I just sold my last two 2005s last month (one was 767 days old!!!!), and have two more 2006 RTs in stock. Needless to say, I do not intend to order even ONE 2007 model...dealers all over around here can't sell them! I had significantly better luck selling GTOs at the Pontiac dealer!
