you could build a 383 for a few thousand...or $15,000

depends on what you want out of it, materials, and parts used.

this would be a nice engine (http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?lang=-1&catalogId=10002&storeId=10001&categoryId=43782) to use. even has a warranty

Had a 383 in my old '81 Z28 ..... amazing combo!! Even when the car had 2.56 gears (yes, 2.56 gears!:p) it still pulled like crazy with all the torque!:thumb:

Mine was a "budget built" 383 ... we bought the short-block already built for a good price, and just put a set of cheap "882" (smogger) heads on it, with a .480"/.480" hydraulic cam, a set of headers, and that car ran amazing! :D

A complete set up makes more diff than the engine alone. I had a 70 SS w/a350 that out ran many cars with larger engines and more $ invested in them because they didn't have a good set up.

A 383 is great for drags and on the street, but not so much for track racing. They don't do well with maintaining high RPMs like a 377. What are your plans for the car?

ooohh of coarse i would load it up with the heads cams headers flowmasters i would have to invest a crap load into it but i was just asking to see if any on has ever done that set up before........

if any one can tell me how much a stroker kit would cost plz tell me....:cz28:
