I need new valve guides, valves are coming out hard all the way (needed hammer to get valves out) and have wear marks on the stem.

Stock heads with new Stainless steel polished valves coming, so all i need is new valve guides.

Is there another place to get them besides Jegs and Summit?

Are your valves beat over on the ends?

Ya will have to take them to a shop to have the guides replaced so let them furnish the correct guides.

They are coming out with a hammer because you did not file the keeper groove edge, you always need to do that.

Yeah, when your locks eat into your keeper groove it will cause this too happen. It's a sign of valve bounce or very high spring loads. The better valves come with radius groove or bead lock keeper groves that prevent most of this from happening.

I'm getting Manley Race-Flo valves (16) today, with CC 7* hardend locks and retainers. Then sending heads in if valves fit tight to get honed and maybe new valve guides. Am i going to need anyother prep work for the valvetrain before putting it back together?

Like the filing thing?

I know i need to do the correct spring installed height and seat pressure.

I'm using the GMPP LT4 Hotcam springs btw w/ the LT4 hotcam and CC 1.6 alum RR, NSA w/ guideplates and hardend pushrods (stock length)

Anything else i should know? do?
THANKS!!

I would go ahead a get some new guides, when you use the "removal by hammer" method, you can't really trust correlating parts. Could be wrong though.

Get some Beryllium Copper guides, I hear they work great. (Good neutron deflection properties as well;) )

Well, i got the new valves, and they fit perfectly!? .. so i guess my guides are fine and the valves are the ones messed up? Should i just install the new valves with original guides? or should i put new ones in?

take it to a shop and have the stem/guide clearance checked out and make sure its right, and while you're there get a valve job too.

When you pulled/hammered the valves out, you put lines in the guide which is an easy path for oil into the port.

Just because the valves fit does not mean the clearance is correct. Most likely you need to have the guides replaced or bronze liners installed. Then the seats need to be re-shot. Depending on how many miles you have on the motor, the exhaust seats might be pitted too, which means that even if the clearances are ok, the seats need to be shot. Take them to a shop and have them checked out.
