wheel well + floor pan rust repair

hey guys, inside the rear wheel well.. right in the corner there is a hole the side of your rist. i want this fixed asap. best route to go? sandblast it and then cut the rust out and then put new metal in and weld or is there a better way to fix this. when this car is done the car will not be drivien in the winter.

the floorpan has a fist size hole as well. is it best for me to cut the rust out and weld in a piece of metal and then undercoat? thanks so much

i want to do things properly and not have to worry about them when done

best regards
Douglas

A little late in response, but I just found this under a search for "rust".

I have the same problem with my car in the wheel wells. I had it repaired with weld repair patches and some filler 2 years ago. It is now back to rust again with holes. If you want it done right, get new panels. I drive mine year round though.

I agree with the above poster, rust is like cancer of your car. Once it starts, it is very difficult to reverse. All new panels is usually the best repair. Sometimes you can get away with completely cutting out the rusted area and welding in a new piece of metal.

You can safely cut out the rusted areas and weld in a new replacement panel. If you do it right, it wont come back. Doing it right means removing it all, using seem sealer on all seams, and then priming and painting with rust preventative paint, such as POR15
