Hello....
I am looking at buying a '95 Olds 88 as a daily driver for a family member. The engine is a 3.8 series II with a bad rod knock. Does anyone see any reason why a series II 3.8 from a Camaro/Firebird would NOT bolt up and work in this car?
TY!

maybe the bellhousing difference, but it should be fairly straight forward.

That's what I was thinking. I talked to a guy at a salvage yard and he said the mounting holes on the block for the engine mounts are different. Makes sense because of the longitudinal vs. transverse mounting.

thing is we have mounted FWD blocks into our cars...
ave you tried finding a FWD block seems like those would be more plentiful then RWD blocks anyways.

Yes I have looked for FWD engines but I found a great deal on this board from one of our F-Bod bros. Look like the whole idea is tanked now anyway. I couldn't sell the idea to my mom who would be getting the car. She has a 94 vert for her daily driver but needs something that will go in the PA snow this winter. She couldn't stomach the idea of driving an Olds no matter how hard my Dad and I tried. She would go for a Bonneville SSE or maybe a Riviera, something a little sportier so if anyone knows of a good deal on somethin please let me know.
Thx
