What is the best way to trim the bumpstops like this?

http://www.injuneer.com/images/photos/WheelsTires/FendMas2.jpg

Do you unbolt the rubber bumper first? Then cut down the bracket to the bolt holes? What's the best tool -- cutoff wheel? sawzall? Then what is the best way to cut the rubber bumper? Do you bolt it back on and then cut it? Any suggestions for cutting the rubber?

Just looking for baby step instructions on how best to do this.

Thanks!

I did that so long ago I can't even remember. I didn't remove the bump stop from the bracket, and I used an air powered die grinder. I think I used a stone, but may have used a cut-off wheel at some point.

Don't worry about the "rubber".... its actually a fairly fragile white material that will probably crumble and fall apart. It was still in fairly decent shape in 2000 when I did that, but with yours being 11 years old, they may just fall apart.

Yeah, mine fell apart (I used a grinder on them). The rubber-type material separated from the metal base. So I bought new ones and "modified" them... they weren't too much money. PN is 10164173, in case you need it RichJ.
