Changing A/C compressor, dryer, exp valve> Exactly when to oil system?
Changing A/C compressor, dryer, exp valve> Exactly when to oil system?
I'm going to be changing out the major components of my A/C system here this week w/ new stuff, and will be flushing the condenser, evaporator and the lines out.
I have a A/C manifold gauge/hose set and a vacuum pump to do the finishing work properly, but I'm a little iffy on exactly when/how to add the Pag oil to the system. I understand the Compressor will have some initial breakin oil already in it and that I will want to spin the compressor by hand a few times to circulate that around in the compressor. But then I've read around that each component can have a set amount of oil just poured into them prior to install, and then you're done on that end, pull a vacuum on the system, check for leaks and then charge w/ refridgerant.
Is that the proper method (how much oil then for our systems?) or do I need to add a can of pressurized oil after I have evacuated/held a vacuum on the system for 10-15 minutes prior to the initial startup and refridge charge? Just any help on the proper procedure would be appreciated.

add a few ounces into the compressor before u install it...then after u have put most everything together...its good sometimes to drop a couple ounces into the hoses too...dont add to much though...as that will only clog the system...then bolt everything back up and pull a vacuum for a solid hour...hour + even.

OK so I'll add it during the assembly of the system. Do you happen to know the specific total amount to add to the system beyond just a "few" ounces, or is it not that specific? I picked up the parts today and the info included w/ the stuff just said to refer to the factory specifications. The Oil charge in most of those retrofit kits is around 8 ounces, is that about what I should aim for? (the non-compressed PAG oil can I've purchased is also 8.5 ounces, use it all or is that too much?)
Thanks for the help.
Thanks for the help.

i believe 7 between 7 and 10 ounces is pretty standard...and should be just fine...i know I usually throw in that much whenever i do a swap like that...and I havent really had any issues relating to that.
