SiDeWaYZz28 07-18-2006, 12:58 AM Ok this should work.... http://community.webshots.com/user/jschurter what kind of boost guage is that? Schurters LT1 07-18-2006, 07:01 AM here you go http://www.dynotunenitrous.com/store/scripts/prodlist.asp?idcategory=116 CALL911 07-18-2006, 10:50 AM http://i1.tinypic.com/20adnx0.jpg Here's mine. Shankels94TA 07-18-2006, 02:04 PM I'm in the middle on how that cut TA bumper looks but good for you for trying something new!!! 93redz 07-18-2006, 08:53 PM what kind of intercooler is that and where did you get it?thanks 97WS6Pilot 07-18-2006, 10:08 PM Nice work schurter and thanks for the pics.:) Schurters LT1 07-18-2006, 10:10 PM thanks...still need to trim up the front and add the mesh to it as well.....but car is on the road and i am loving it.... 97WS6Pilot 07-18-2006, 10:22 PM If you moved your intercooler up and tilted it forward would you be able to use the stock hardware on the bottom of your front bumper? :) Schurters LT1 07-18-2006, 10:25 PM if i played with it i could have....hard to say now ...but i am not that far off .....from butting everything back to OE..... CALL911 07-19-2006, 10:45 AM If 93redz was referring to my FMIC, I got it from Bob at EPP. I didn't want to cut up my front bumper because I thought it looked horrible (no offense to those who have cut thier front bumper). The best way to get air to your FMIC is pretty much to hack up your front bumper. I decided to fabricate an air inlet under my bumper to aim air to my FMIC from the bottom instead of hacking up my front. I am sure it is not as proficient as the cut up bumpers, but my IAT's still stay cool so it works for me. leadfoot94 07-19-2006, 06:27 PM If 93redz was referring to my FMIC, I got it from Bob at EPP. Do you have any pics with the bumper on? 93redz 07-19-2006, 06:30 PM i hate to be stupid but what company is that you are refering to? Im thinking about getting a innercooler and just wonder what kind and where the best price is? Schurters LT1 07-19-2006, 06:38 PM you can get the intercooler off ebay for like 300..the pipeing is like 100 clamps and hose...for what ever.... 93redz 07-19-2006, 06:40 PM i have seen those on ebay but i was not sure how good they are.Thank you Schurters LT1 07-19-2006, 06:49 PM go over on LS1 tech and do a search there is a bunch of info and you very good luck...mine is off ebay...for 300 bucks i can buy 2 of them for the price of a Griffin... 97WS6SCharged 07-20-2006, 01:02 PM I just can't bring myself to hack up the front bumper on my TA. Schurters LT1 07-20-2006, 05:35 PM just leave the fog light out and put some ramair in there to feed the front of it...., bowtiepwr 07-20-2006, 06:04 PM I just can't bring myself to hack up the front bumper on my TA. >I just bought a replacement front cover to hack up and will keep the original in my garage http://i5.tinypic.com/20j4q9v.jpg CALL911 07-21-2006, 07:26 AM EPP is Exotic Performance Plus in Columbia City, Indiana (where I went to high school). You can find them at www.exoticperformanceplus.com Just ask for Bob, and tell him CALL911 sent you, and he will get you a killer deal on a FMIC for your car. As for the pics, I have one with me but its not the best. I will try to get it posted soon. And as soon as I can I will try to take some better pics of my setup to post. ZBLKHELLRZR 07-21-2006, 07:49 AM Did you cut up the front CALL911 for the FMIC to get more air or did you leave it stk and just use the opening's from the foglights? I cut mine open and put a grill in it's place so I don't punch a hole in the FMIC. Bought the grill from summit. Fits nicely too. :D http://www.lmperformance.com/images/parts/che9397b.jpg CALL911 07-21-2006, 10:16 AM http://i5.tinypic.com/20kp3c0.jpg Here's the not so great picture of mine. I cut the space behind the foglights out, and ran a metal lip (its hard to see but the small three metal rods hold the metal ducting in) under the front bumper that ducts air up to my FMIC. So the front end looks pretty much stock, which is what I wanted. The silver bolts down below are holding added material to my air dam for the radiator to keep the engine temps down. No offense to anyone, but I really don't like the look of grills on the Camaro's. I wanted to make mine work without hacking up my front. I will say that hacking out the front of your bumper will allow the best air flow to your FMIC though. However mine works fine and looks good to me. ZBLKHELLRZR 07-21-2006, 10:23 AM I'm not a fan of grills either but this compliments the front end. Those billet grills I detest the several horizontal lines. yuck! But no offense. You got any pics of what you are describing? I can see it in my head but picks are better naturally. :D CALL911 07-21-2006, 10:27 AM Just edited my post above with the pic. ZBLKHELLRZR 07-21-2006, 10:36 AM Thanks for the pic! Looks good! How low are you? I'm slammed and can't go that route but I still like the idea. Wish my camera was working I'd post a pic of that grille mounted on the bumper. :( You are running the EPP FMIC kit right? Just wanted to know how it all fit together. Haven't dropped my engine in yet due to some small unforseen circumstance. Hopefully in the next wk I'll have it in. CALL911 07-21-2006, 10:56 AM My car is lowered 3/4 of an inch (same as a Camaro SS). I added the extra material to the air dam when I noticed my engine temps were in the 190-195 zone. The extra material on the air dam helped about 5 degrees, but sucks because I scrape it on the ground all the time (even by just using the brakes at a city speed). Yes, my FMIC is from EPP, unfortunatly there is no ducting kit to make it fit to the D1SC for LT1's so my engine shop had to fab everything to make it work and they said it was a pain to do, but they got it done eventually, and it works great. Keep patient on your car. With as much work is involved with putting a blower on an LT1 especially if the motor is modified, you will for sure run into some unforseen snags. I originally planned to spend $5,000 in mine to get it to work, and planned on having it back in the beggining of May. I ended up spending $10,000 and just got mine working about a week ago. Be patient, and persistant, and you will get yours done before you know it. BLWN1 08-06-2006, 11:42 PM good info TransAm396 08-07-2006, 12:56 PM Nice, what size did you end up with? Here is a pic of mine...12x24x4 http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l29/leadfoot94/P5010038.jpg is that 31" in total lenght? if it is..i think thats the one I got.do you have a picture with the bumper on the car??? Sparkz28ss 08-07-2006, 01:00 PM Damn.....does everone run the same setup with the inlet/outlets on both endtanks....How long are the charge pipes? my inlet/outlet are on the same side...... I also noticed my core goes from top to bottom...... TransAm396 08-07-2006, 01:02 PM edit 97WS6Pilot 08-07-2006, 09:47 PM Damn.....does everone run the same setup with the inlet/outlets on both endtanks....How long are the charge pipes? my inlet/outlet are on the same side...... I also noticed my core goes from top to bottom...... The ones that flow from top to bottom have more capability for CFM. The ones that flow across get lower IAT's. :) Here is a picture of mine. http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/9/web/2373000-2373999/2373730_18_full.jpg Fastbird93 08-07-2006, 10:24 PM Man....I KNOW I'm going to NEED a FMIC, but I just can't stomach the though of hacking up the nose of my beloved T/A. TransAm396 08-07-2006, 10:26 PM Im gonna try to do it without hacking. Maybe just cutting out the holes all the way to the bumper...then making a little pipe that points inward to direct air to the intercooler...and then maybe cut out under the bumper..and make a steel support for the thin bottom part of the nose..ill post pics when im done.(dont wait around though) 97WS6Pilot 08-07-2006, 11:05 PM Man....I KNOW I'm going to NEED a FMIC, but I just can't stomach the though of hacking up the nose of my beloved T/A.
