I finally picked up my car yesterday (95 LT1 Z28, 383, D1SC, FMIC, 12#'s of boost), and noticed that my engine temperature was a bit hotter than what it was when I was N/A. Is this normal? The hottest my car used to get was 180, now it ranges from 185-195, with it averagly being 190. I drove it again at night and it was about 185 or so. I am wondering if my newly added airscoop in the front for my FMIC may be taking the air needed to go to the radiator. I am planning on making my air dam for the radiator stick down a little lower to compensate. I have a 160 thermostat, TB bypass, and the fans to come on early, and a new waterpump.
For those with similar setups (LT1, supercharged) what is your average engine temp?

I would say thats normal...
the blower will build some extra heat...
I stay around 170 on the hwy not makeing any boost and after a few runs I get up to about 195 then it cools back down..

I created a little extension of the factory air dam, and that seemed to help on average about 5-10 degrees. However after driving it on the highway this afternoon, with the heat index at 108, it saw just a hair under 200 according to the gage (which probably isn't the most accurate). I still am under teh impression that I am okay.
For those others looking over this post, please reply with your average temps driving around in your forced induciton cars.

HMMM very interesting, I have a standard LS1 running at about 87 deg C 188 f in USA terms. I dont know what thermostat is in the unit I am always watching the temperature in any car I drive, as we all know once you overheat any motor it could cost you big time.

O how are you guys checking the temperature ?
I have been using a hand held temperature gun pointing at the left hand side radator tank (top end)

as long as your car is under 230...id say its completely fine....stock is set to 220....(or as long as the guage doesnt get into the red or close to it) but yes..ESP with a supercharger..or turbo..there will be more heat.

in 96*-105* weather I will see a steady 220*-236* water pump temp after steady freeway driving. If I just cruise around town it will never get above 200*. I attribute this to 4.11 gears in an A4 and non-ceramic coated headers. However, it cooled off to 60*-80* temps recently and the car reverted back to it's old 165*-180* running temps no matter what I did (which is nice).
