tire size for tel stars

I'm having trouble finding this in the search. What tire sizes fit a 15x8 telstar wheel other than 275-50-15? I want street tires, not drag radials. I can not find anything other than bfg ta in a 275-50-15. What sizes will fit and look right? I have drag radials on now. I want to put a street tire on because I'm eating up my drag radials. Any help would be appreciated.

A sheet I have for the BFG Radial T/A shows they make a 295/50-15 that will work on wheels 8-10" wide. That would increase the tire diameter to 26.7" , about 1" larger than stock.

That tire is a good bit wider than the 275-50-15 drag radial thats onm there now. I dont want the tire sticking out past the fender. Do you know if that tire would look right with a 15x8 wheel and 5.5" back space? If it does, I'll get it. Thanks.

That tire is 12.2" wide when mounted on a 9.5" wide wheel. Put it on an 8" wide wheel and it will pull the section width in to about 11.5". That means its going to be bulging out about 1.25" past the outer edge of the rim. That might put it outside the fender. My photos of the 15x10" wheel in the FAQ have a 13.1" wide slick on it, so I'd say the 295's on the 15x8 5.5" BS wheel wll stick out 1/4-1/2" more than the tire in the photo.

Its gonna look "chubby" on that wheel. Let me check on another forum.. I think there's a guy there running 295's.

He's got Cooper 295/50-15's, but they are on the 15x10 7.5" BS Welds. But they should sit just abuot the same place on your 15x8 5.5" BS wheels. There's a photo of his car in the signature.
