Hey guys! New to the board. I have a 94 V6 coupe that has a bad motor. Just bought a complete. though pretty severely wrecked 98 with a 3.8. Yes I have a complete donor car, however what all will needed to swap the engine into the 94? Any surprises I need to know about? TIA!

Everything that is needed for a v8 swap, basically.

K-member, tranny (starter pocket is on different side than 3.4L version) engine, engine harness, radiator and twin cooling fans for the 3.8L, VATS(?), and maybe even more than that...like the rear since the ABS is different, but who knows.

Advice: part the 3.8L car, sell it, and put that money to the 3.4L aluminum top end swap and have more get up than stock 3.8L's...

i vote LT1 swap. if you're going through the trouble of putting a completely different motor in there anyway, at least do something that's worth it.

Clarify, 1994TA.

You have a 3.8L donor or an LT1 donor?

3.8L is not worth it, LT1 *can* be.

Especially when the 3.4L has FWD 3400 hop-up parts out there to work with...no way a 3.8L is worth the pain to swap to.

i've had the whole V8 thing... this is a V6 THREAD.... DONT NEED TO HEAR ABOUT HOW THE V8 IS A BETTER SWAP.

second... i have 2 3.8 donnor cars 99 and a 01.. and a rolling chassis 93 maro

all the parts a free.... not 3k for a lt1 with mods (no one in thier right mind would want a stock lt1!!! )

sorry to rant.... but youve answerd my question... same as a v8 fine... thank you.:)

1994TA,

In your case, spending the money for an LT1 > ripping your car up to convert to OBD2 to swap to another v6...

If you don't know what is involved, just stay in suspense. This is where curiosity kills...
