I do not intend to paint my car any time soon, maybe in years to come. With that said I was just wondering if it's likely that I would have to take my vinyls off the car to get it painted.

Painting with vinyls on the car?aliensRreal 07-09-2006, 01:33 AM I do not intend to paint my car any time soon, maybe in years to come. With that said I was just wondering if it's likely that I would have to take my vinyls off the car to get it painted. LS1Kid717 07-09-2006, 01:44 AM itd be a good idea 96 TA 07-09-2006, 01:51 AM I would! Birdman7389 07-09-2006, 02:48 AM Umm..Yes. For Sure. GT KILLER 07-09-2006, 04:15 AM uhh I'm sure you'd wanna do that..... Brent94Z 07-09-2006, 09:57 AM Yes, take them off for sure. They are cheap enough that you will definitely want to replace them after the paint. You should never mask around a vinyl decal IMO... will end up looking "cheap" in the long run :) Capn Pete 07-09-2006, 10:32 AM If you think there's a noticeable "edge" to vinyl decals on a smooth painted surface, wait 'til to you see the edge created when you mask and paint around them:rolleyes:. My '81 Z28 had been re-painted since factory, but it still had the original Z28 decals down the side of the car, on the hood scoop, and across the rear spoiler, and they'd been taped up and painted around ... the line around them was so thick, it was terrible!:( If you repaint, do the whole body, and put whatever decals on AFTER. Only way to do it right:cool:. aliensRreal 07-09-2006, 12:33 PM Thanks, that's what I figured. As I said though, I don't plan on painting anytime soon. There is no way I could pay for a 3k paint job... | ||
