Getting Preventive and Pre-emptive

Hello all. I live in Dubai (in the Middle East), and there are a number of f-cars here but not anywhere close to the critical mass, hence parts aren't as cheap and available as in the US.

Just like every car it's natural for me to expect a problem in future where the car cannot run without immediate replacement of a part. I WANT TO AVOID MAKING COSTLY PART PURCHASES FROM THE LOCAL DEALER, and be able to have a part ready with me by ordering from the US which is much cheaper.

My Z has done 89000 miles, driven carefully and always under 60MPH speed & daily diver. In the next 20000 miles what problems should I expect that will find myself looking for a part immediately; or, what parts should I be ordering in advance that will be immediatley be needed to be up and running. This is more like asking you guys for intuitive advise. As always, thanks everyone.

If it breaks, then fix it, that is my stand on it. You can stockpile parts for the unexpected and those things may never break, whereas something unexpected will. What I usually keep for my Camaro includes the following, a couple spare sets of spark plugs, a spare set of wires, a spare serpentine belt, a few gallons of coolant, a couple cases of oil, and a few oil filters. I also keep the spare stock parts after I replace something with an aftermarket "performance" part.

Thanks for the quick reply man. Oil filter is changed by the regular service station so I think they use standard ones. Is the spark plug specific to the f-bods? if so any particular vendor recommendation whom I can order this and other parts from?

You can use an aftermarket plug from NGK, you would use the TR-55 plugs, that is what I am using. They run about 2 bucks a plug for the copper style and several of our supporting vendors sell them.

You've never driven the car over 60MPH? :confused:

I'd have a spare Optispark and maybe a few O2 sensors, plug wires and belts handy.
Check your manual for the 100,000 mile tune up.

I like taking it easy on the road. But occasionally go fast if another driver on the road needs his ego puctured. :)
