I think a Dynomax muffler has the best price-performance ratio.....

My neighbor has a dynomax on his 3.4 and it sounds really good to me (and I've got headers), especially when he downshifts and engine brakes into 2nd and 1st (manual trans).

Not unless you can weld. If we're talking about just a muffler, the install would cost around $40-$60. I don't remember how much a muffler costs....somewhere around $70-$80, I think, but I'm sure you've already looked at prices for dynomax by now.

Flowmaster 40 is another good choice.

would just buying the muffler give a better tone??

yes, you can install the muffler yourself!

The biggest problem is to remove the original muffler (rust).....
And yes, the muffler gives you a better tone.......

In Germany we pay around $150 for a Dynomax muffler plus extra charge for the tailpipes :( I think it's a lot of cheaper in the States

the super turbo for the 82-92 camaros

its like $50, we paid $40 for the install and tailpipes from a cheap local guy, expect about $75 from a decent shop

thats if you want duals

I went with a Cherry Bomb Turbo II. It is very small, light, inexpensive, and sounds good (it is a lot louder then stock but it isnt loud enough to get you pulled over). The muffler cost $15 new, I had to buy a pipe to extend it which was $5, and I bought a bunch of U-clamps to hold it together (untill I have the time to weld it). So totaly it cost me about $30, and it took me 3 hours to totally get the old setup out (it was sooo rusty I had to cut everything). I finished with 5 minutes to spare before I had to go to work.

If you are on a budget, you could also look into grabbing a used 4th gen v8 catback from someone local that upgraded their exhaust. I've seen them go for under $50, and sometimes free. That will upgrade you from 2.25" to 2.75" tubing, and a less restrictive muffler.
