cheap better sounding exhaustcam25aro 07-06-2006, 06:04 PM i have a 98 camaro, stock, v6.... im rebuilding my truck right now so im short on money, but i want to do somethin to my exhaust system so it sounds better then stock.. what can i do?? Fierotom 07-07-2006, 07:02 AM I think a Dynomax muffler has the best price-performance ratio..... njenson 07-07-2006, 07:34 AM ^^^^ what he said MarcR94v6 07-07-2006, 01:44 PM My neighbor has a dynomax on his 3.4 and it sounds really good to me (and I've got headers), especially when he downshifts and engine brakes into 2nd and 1st (manual trans). cam25aro 07-07-2006, 02:19 PM how much is this going to run me, could i install it myself MarcR94v6 07-07-2006, 07:54 PM Not unless you can weld. If we're talking about just a muffler, the install would cost around $40-$60. I don't remember how much a muffler costs....somewhere around $70-$80, I think, but I'm sure you've already looked at prices for dynomax by now. Flowmaster 40 is another good choice. cam25aro 07-07-2006, 11:08 PM would just buying the muffler give a better tone?? Fierotom 07-08-2006, 09:28 AM yes, you can install the muffler yourself! The biggest problem is to remove the original muffler (rust)..... And yes, the muffler gives you a better tone....... In Germany we pay around $150 for a Dynomax muffler plus extra charge for the tailpipes :( I think it's a lot of cheaper in the States cam25aro 07-08-2006, 11:20 AM thank you for all the help... i looked into them, they have different models from like 30 dollars to 70, which one should i go with??? Mr. Merk 07-10-2006, 02:20 AM the super turbo for the 82-92 camaros its like $50, we paid $40 for the install and tailpipes from a cheap local guy, expect about $75 from a decent shop thats if you want duals pinball-1 07-10-2006, 10:30 AM I went with a Cherry Bomb Turbo II. It is very small, light, inexpensive, and sounds good (it is a lot louder then stock but it isnt loud enough to get you pulled over). The muffler cost $15 new, I had to buy a pipe to extend it which was $5, and I bought a bunch of U-clamps to hold it together (untill I have the time to weld it). So totaly it cost me about $30, and it took me 3 hours to totally get the old setup out (it was sooo rusty I had to cut everything). I finished with 5 minutes to spare before I had to go to work. Tru2Chevy 07-11-2006, 02:57 PM If you are on a budget, you could also look into grabbing a used 4th gen v8 catback from someone local that upgraded their exhaust. I've seen them go for under $50, and sometimes free. That will upgrade you from 2.25" to 2.75" tubing, and a less restrictive muffler. - Justin | ||
