ChrisFrez 07-06-2006, 09:36 AM I'm posting this here as they have been active in this forum and i'd like to get out their message:
Chris I was going to post and let the board know what has been going on with my health since we all got back from NAIAS in January but was not sure which thread would be best to use. It was good to meet you in Detroit this year.
I have been having things happen to me they could not for over a year now find out why or a cause. Two weeks ago I started having pain in my right side rib cage to go along with pain I have had in my left shoulder for about 2 years. Last week I went to the hospital and spent 5 days there and they found the trouble this time. It was not good news for Cindy and I, they said I had stage 4 lung cancer and a 45% chance even with chemo of living another year. Long short of it is I guess I will not see a new vert sitting in my drive. If you would like to post something letting everyone know it would be great. I am going to try and go to all the events I can this summer as long as I feel I can to see old friends and some I only know from the net.
I start chemo next Tuesday to try and slow it down some so I will keep everyone posted on how it gets.

Willard & Cindy,
More than anything else....do what you can to make this period in your life be as enjoyable and non-regrettable as possible.
Best wishes and be strong,
Doug Harden
Z284ever 07-06-2006, 09:48 AM Sorry to hear that. Don't know what to say other than you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
HOTCIVIC 07-06-2006, 09:50 AM Wow that's very sad. :(
Chris 96 WS6 07-06-2006, 10:24 AM Here's praying for effective treatment and a speedy recovery.
CLEAN 07-06-2006, 11:32 AM Don't give up hope! Prayers for strength and a full recovery
stars1010 07-06-2006, 11:35 AM My thoughts and prayers are with you both :)
christianjax 07-06-2006, 12:03 PM So sorry to hear. With God's help, you can beat this. My prayers are with you and your wife.
lbrowne 07-06-2006, 12:13 PM My prayers are with you on a successful recovery. Fight it, don't quit!
Take note folks on how quickly your life can change - whether its for better or unfortunately worse.
POWERFREAK 07-06-2006, 01:58 PM stay positive and stay strong
OctaneZ28 07-06-2006, 02:24 PM Prayers are with you and the family.
Keep a positive attitude, all things are possible.
HOTCIVIC 07-06-2006, 05:20 PM I agree with others who said don't give up hope. A friend of my mom's was diagnosed with lung cancer and they gave her less than a year. 3 years later she is still alive and kickin and there is no sign of cancer. My prayers are with Mike and Cindy. I know it is difficult but try to think positive thoughts - PICTURE yourself beating the cancer every day. It may seem silly but the mind has a lot of power in its arsenal. Just my 2 cents.
cjmatt 07-06-2006, 06:28 PM Come on Settlemire...let the man go for a ride!
supr_bikr_99 07-06-2006, 07:27 PM Praying for you guys! I wish you the best. Stay positive and keep fighting!!! My grandma had been undergoing chemo and finished up treatment a few months ago. She just turned 78 this past Sunday and is doing well. Hopefully that can be a helpful example of fighting it! I hope you can do the same! And Settlemire, I second giving him a ride in the concept Camaro!!!
My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. Try to stay positive, fight it, you can beat it, you WILL see that new vert in your driveway someday. Another vote for a ride in the concept.
Shellhead 07-06-2006, 10:16 PM Haven't been here that long - but my thoughts and hopes are with you. I can't begin to understand what you're going through, but keep fighting - right to the end - if that's five years, five months, or five minutes - just keep fighting. Fight to see that new 'vert in your driveway - never give up on that image. We're all with you.
I won't presume to tell Scott what to do (pretty sure it's not wholly his decision anyway) - but I think it'd be awesome to give them a chance to drive the concept. Aside from what it would say about GM, it's the right thing to do.
91_z28_4me 07-07-2006, 01:18 AM Prayers sent.
I think ol' Redplanet should let him drive the concept. A little something to put a smile on his face.
guionM 07-07-2006, 02:18 AM With my own dad fighting cancer, my wife's dad dying from lung cancer himself 2 years ago, and my grandfathers (my dad's dad back in the late 60s, and my mom's dad year before last) I can sympathize with what your family may be feeling, Mike. But take the time projections with a grain of salt (none of the predictions wre right), and live each day to the most.
I think if there is anyone who should be invited for a drive or a tour of anything regarding the next Camaro, you're it Mike. :)
0toinsanein5.4sec 07-07-2006, 03:56 AM Prayers are with you. keep your mind on the positive and believe you will see the new vert in ur driveway and it just may get there!

Brandon_Lutz 07-07-2006, 08:35 AM God bless you and my prayers are with you and your family. You can beat this :)
One of my ex gf had a friend whose mother was diagnosed with Brain Cancer years ago and they gave her less than a year to live. That was 15 years ago and she beat it :) Stay strong and remain positive. Live each day to its fullest. We're pulling for ya! :)
Darth Xed 07-07-2006, 08:45 AM Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Mike2001SS 07-07-2006, 09:10 AM I want to thank everyone for the thoughts and prayers at this time. You are all the best thats for sure. As for Scott letting me drive the concept I just hope they get one on the street for all of us while I am still here. Scott has always been a good friend to Cindy and me and he already did what I ask of him before we knew about this. I ask him to take Cindy a ride in it and this is the pic

FULLXRACER 07-08-2006, 09:56 PM Stay strong and positive, our thought's and prayer's are with you.
stars1010 07-08-2006, 10:02 PM Just to give you more hope.
Last year one of my best friends father was diagnosed with a certain heart disease that only like 200 people in the world have ever been found to have.
There is no cure and they gave him only a month to live.
Now nearly 14 months later he is not only still alive but his health has actually slightly improved.
He got to see his son graduate from college a few months ago nad is still living his life to the fullest that he can.
Stay positive, I truly believe God works in mysterious ways.
Mike2001SS 07-09-2006, 08:51 AM Thanks everyone and you can bet I will not just sit back and give up as I have over came lots in my life in the past and faith and prayer does help in a big way. Another thing that really helps at times like this is the friends we have all made in the F-Body community that is always there to cheer you up and do things to get your mind off whats going on. Friday I had 2 people from the board drive about 2 hours each just to meet me and buy me lunch and talk about all the old days of racing. You just don't beat the friendships made on these boards.
Lt1 and Ls1 07-09-2006, 10:33 PM Praying for you. Keep the faith.
JasonD 08-20-2006, 12:25 PM I am exceptionally sad to report that Mike "Willard" Scott has passed away.
http://www.legacy.com/news-record/Obituaries.asp?Page=Lifestory&PersonId=18914602
I easily remember him as being a great person and a great enthusiast. He was a good friend to many and a good friend to the f-body community.
From what I understand, there is a mountain of medical bills that needs to be addressed. From the obituary...
"In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made directly to the family c/o Cindy Scott, 5625 Piney Grove Church Rd., Siler City, NC 27344 or to Hospice of Chatham County."
We'll miss you, Mike.
Caps94ZODG 08-20-2006, 12:33 PM wow..would like to send my simpathy to them and to anyone that has to go through the passing of a loved one.
sorry to hear..
saroyan689 08-20-2006, 01:54 PM I recieved an email on Saturday about Mike's passing. He will be missed by lots of people. He always had a smile and plenty of stories to tell- not to mention a sunset orange SS convertible that he kept complety spotless despite driving it nearly every day.
It makes me happy to know he got to see the concept- but sad that he will wont be around to buy one off the lot- and Im sure he would have!!
Godspeed Mike. We will miss you.
Doug Harden 08-20-2006, 04:11 PM Damn..... :(
Silverbullet02ss 08-21-2006, 12:45 PM I never knew Mike all that well, but the times in the past that I got to spend with him and Cindy at the Gatherings were always memorable. He was a great man that had more passion about the Camaro than anyone I have known. I still remember the grin on his face at the last Gathering when I showed him a pic of my SS side by side with the concept and he then preceeded to show me up by showing me the pic of Cindy riding in it. I am so glad that he got to hear that the Camaro was coming back and I only wish he could have been around to get the new vert that he wanted. We will miss you Mike
