what is the Y87 performance package?Chevy16 07-03-2006, 02:36 AM i have a 96 RS and ive always wondered what the "Y87 performance package" really consists of...? Fierotom 07-03-2006, 10:28 AM in 1996 the Y87 package was: four-wheel disk brake, limited slip rear axle, quicker steering ratio (14.4:1) and dual muffler outlets! Retail: 400$ in 1996 (L36 only) hope this helps:) Chevy16 07-03-2006, 03:04 PM alright i guess i didnt get that then because i bought it with single outlet exhaust and it has drum brakes, so what makes my car so different that makes it an "RS"!? Fierotom 07-03-2006, 03:35 PM okay, the RS (Rally Sport Coupe or Convertible) was a new model in 96 with front and rear facias, ground-effects side molding and a unique three-piece rear spoiler! source: Camaro White Book, Mike Antonick Chevy16 07-03-2006, 04:09 PM alright but i dont have any of that though and the insurance company told my mom it was an RS GT KILLER 07-03-2006, 07:54 PM alright but i dont have any of that though and the insurance company told my mom it was an RS Somebody could've taken off the ground FX......either that, or it's just another regular V6. Does it have RS badges on it? Chevy16 07-04-2006, 01:18 AM nope Fierotom 07-04-2006, 10:39 AM ....then I think, you have "only" a base coupe L36 and no RS....... btw: there is no RPO Code for "RS" in my white book, so the dealer can tell you everything...... but the body side moldings have an RPO Code: B84 (if they are taken off...) Chevamaro 07-10-2006, 10:30 PM Both the Carfax report and insurance say "Camaro/RS" (or something along those lines) for my sport coupe. That just means it's not a Z28. "RS" was an appearance package, and (as far as I'm aware) doesn't make a difference to insurance companies. | ||
