Chevy's new global face.
Re: Chevy's new global face.
I don't know why they have to have a "global face". It used to be that they made really good looking cars and then put the bowtie on the front, and somehow everybody still knew they were chevys.
Re: Chevy's new global face.
I don't like it. That face lacks imagination. For what is GM's most famous brand (along with Cadillac), it's disappointing to see that cheap looking horizontal bar grille become as prominant as the bow tie badge. Is there any significance to the horizontal bar? The face might suit Chevrolet's SUVs but it just doesn't work well on their cars.
Cruel to be kind as they say... but Chevrolet is becoming GM's blandest brand. There is nothing about that face that makes me think "wow, I gotta have that car"! If anything, that look screams out 'cheap and uninspiring'.

Re: Chevy's new global face.
By "Global" I would think that is mostly meant for Exports. (Outside USA).
I don't think we'll see much of that here. Maybe possibly on like an Aveo; or a car designed for mass quantities (Malibu Maybe). Very "Camryish" which can work in that market.
But I don't think we'll see it on the "Signature" cars like Impala, Camaro, Vette, etc...

I wish Chevrolet would get off the horizontal bar thru the grille thing. Chrome or otherwise, I don't think it adds anything positive to the look. If anything it restricts creativity. Thank God they didn't put a horizontal bar on the Camaro!
Re: Chevy's new global face.
In a way, we're already seeing that "face" on Chevy's.
The new Tahoe, the Cobalt, and to a lesser degree, the Impala-Monte Carlo all have it. There's going to be exceptions (ie: Corvette & Camaro), but I recall either Bob Lutz or Ed Welburn talking about this new Chevrolet look some time ago, so it's going to apply to North America and Australian made Chevys as well as elsewhere.

Re: Chevy's new global face.
Bland describes it well. I also remember the days where each car had it's own personality and then they slapped the Chevy badge on the front. Seems like they are trying too hard to standardize the face of everything. But this is atleast a step up from the Impala/Monte Carlo/Cobalts.
