New Lincoln LS V8s.......Just $31,000!!!!
Ford is offering a $8,000 rebate on the Lincoln LS!
I case you didn't know, they all come with the 280 horse V8, 5 speed auto, traction control, and performance suspension this year.
If Ford had priced them here (or at least close to this price) we wouldn't be looking at their demise.

Invoice on 'em is 36k, so with 8000 off and assuming you could get it down to invoice that'd be 28k. Wow... nice.
Though it says "up to" is that assuming you qualify for all the discounts like say a military member just graduated college who owned a Ford product last go round?
I drove a used '03 LS V8 back when I had my Lexus. Wasn't very impressed with the interior at ALL, but the motor was impressively smooth and quiet and the road noise was decently supressed.
I was just scared by the terrible resale value. What was supposedly a 40k dollar car when new was selling without even negotiating any further, for 20k bucks with only 28 thousand miles on it.

FWIW, "LS" is the absolute worst name in the history of the automobile.
Especially on a luxury car.
It's totally non descriptive, even in a world of alphanumeric names.
And, the "icing on the cake" is that "LS" has been a lower trim level on Chevrolet's for years...

It stood for the basic and generic term "Luxury Sedan", followed by the displacement (400/430/460, though the years).
Lincoln naming one of their vehicles "LS" to me causes the car to lose even more identity, as its overshadowed by the already well known Lexus model.
Lets see Toyota come out with a "Z29".

At that price, I'd consider one. Hell I've always liked the LS.
Until I look at the spy shots of the new CTS <drooling over the proposed interior>....
Have to keep saving.....

But it's too bad that the Ford engines fell so far behind that we're even talking about a V6-V8 comparison. There's no question that the IS350 and C350 will leave the LS V8 for dead.
But Jaguar has the same problem, and they cost a lot more than the Lincoln.

MSRP Price:
$37,703
Invoice Price:
$33,803
Sales Price:
($8,000)
Manufacturer Rebates:
Target Price: $25,800
Pricing off Carsdirect. That's a steal..
I'd rather get a Zephyr though

The only thing is that you can get some better cars for that price. The Charger R/T starts around the same price and gives you more muscle. The GP GXP, while likely not cross shopped, offers better performance for less $$. The GTO also comes in around that price.
If you don't need the V8 - and the LS doesn't have an overwhelming one if I recall correctly - the competition has Lincoln covered. Even the aging CTS comes with a very competent V6 for that money, and might be as fast.
The LS is a good car, it's just that there have always been better options out there, especially now.

The LS has good acceleration (about as quick as old 5.0 Mustang GTs w/ automatics), unlike other Ford engines, the Lincoln's 3.9 has proven virturally bulletproof thanks to being initially made for Jaguar. It's a good long distance runner (rented one a couple of years ago for a San Diego to Phoenix trip), and a pretty impressive ride.
This is a car that IMO could have easily been a hot seller for Ford if it was priced $5-8,000 cheaper from the start, instead of being priced that way to clear out the last ones made.
Re: New Lincoln LS V8s.......Just $31,000!!!!
To be perfectly honest I always liked the LS, and I dislike Fords in general. I would gladly daily drive one. Interestingly enough the SS is paid off next month.
Re: New Lincoln LS V8s.......Just $31,000!!!!
Without a doubt, when V8s were being priced around $48,000 MSRP back in '03 or so, I couldn't imagine who would pay that much for one of those...and no one really did. Why Ford jacked the sticker up so high a couple years into the model run is beyond me...
